2021 GT rear brake options....

My Roush needs a little help in the brake department.

After doing some research I can do the following:

Yellow Speed racing BBK, which seems like a quality way to go.

Shelby 4 piston rear kit. 1500.00 for kit, but they want like 560.00 for shipping, which is ridiculous. I can drive to Las Vegas for less.

Anyone use the YSR kits?

What issues with braking are you having?

Oftentimes, just flushing brake fluid with good fluid (RBF 600 for street, Castrol SRF for track) and getting better pads (G-Loc R8 for street, higher for track) make a huge difference.

Another option is the Ford Performance GT350 brake kit. Yes, 3 times as much as the Shelby kit you are looking at, but you also get upgraded front brakes and slightly stronger axle shafts. Remember, most braking is done with the front, not really sure how much of an improvement you would see with just replacing the rears. I have had the FP kit on my 2020 for a few years now, very happy with it, but my car is just driven on the street.

Brembo 6 piston front, stock GT rears. This is on a Roush stage 3.

I am looking for better performance and noticed my rear brakes have been getting a bit warm and have groves in the rotors. I do not power brake and the car always has traction control off. 13k miles. Regardless of what I go with, the rear brake system needs to be changed (whether it be stock with better pads or something that can handle a bit more abuse). Hard to tell with the picture, but dragging a screwdriver or fingernail on the rotor is very noticeable on both sides.

Well, you do bring up some good points. Installing stronger axle shafts wouldn't be a bad thing since it has a few more ponies.

Gotcha.

Budget fix.......new stock rotors and upgrade pads. Will be good.

But I am a brake-porn kind of guy. The GT350 kit would be awesome. And installing the half shafts is easy. I just installed them in my Mach 1.

Traction control off doesn't mean the Stability is off. While it will let you spin the tires, it still works very hard to prevent you from hitting a tree in the background.
