I may have to trade her in or sell. It’s killing me.

If you can afford to keep the car do it. I raised my kids, now 13 and 15, with a Camaro. Rear facing car seats and all. There were times I wished it were more practical but found ways to make it work. In the grand scheme of life this is a small portion of it and the compromises in space you'll need to make will be worth it when you don't have to look for the car you already had.

This is a tough decision for sure. You have to weigh all of the factors...including financial, pratical logistics of transortation, etc.
For me it was a 30 year wait before I could afford to purchase a car like this both from a financial and practial stand point. Delayed gratification can be a wonderful thing if balanced properly. I was going to wait until I was retired to purchase one, but decided I needed to enjoy it now and not when I was too old to appreciate it. From the sounds of it you are very young and have a lot of years ahead of you. Do what your gut is telling you. If you have a knot in your stomach all the time when owning and driving it- then sell it. If you are at peace with the ownership then keep it.

You realize the explorer starts at under 36k, and you can lease one for a little over $300 a month. Funny as well, blue collar here and just about everyone I know is, and none of us have a problem getting Ford to take our money.
Well the Ford site's msrp is $39k for the base model......and I did not mention the Explorer. The top Explorer models reach close to $60k msrp when you add options.

Other brands' comparative models are less expensive than the Explorer and you get better value for the money. Plus you don't get a 10 year old tired design.

Ford has issues at the highest levels that need to be corrected, for the company to become competitive again.

The Explorer is not for me. I don't want a truck. I don't want a Bronco. Ford has no offerings for me. And there are a lot of people in the same boat.

Please point me to a mid/full size SUV that you can get for less than $40K. Who cares if that’s the base model, they have trims at various prices for various budgets. And even a fully loaded ST at around $63K isn’t awful. 400hp, AWD, ~25mpg highway and it can tow 5,000lbs. The interior is quite nice (yes there’s plastic in there), but the ST seats are really nice, the touchscreen is really good and there’s a lot of features that a lot of luxury brands have (massaging seats, heated/cooled seats & steering wheel, etc.). I felt like I got good value when we bought it and I can’t say that about every car we’ve ever bought.

I do wish Ford would bring back the Fusion and the Focus, or some updated version of them. I prefer a car to an SUV, but I love our Explorer. More importantly, my wife really likes it 🤭

Try again… If you’re not interested in what Ford has to offer then what are you bxtching about.. It’s pointless. It’d be like me complaining about Bmw or Mercedes not having anything when I’m after a work truck. I use 450’s and 550’s, and no manufacturer can match that segment. The Bronco’s amazing if that’s what someone is after. The only other option is Jeep. Oem’s play to there strengths, is what it is. As for the Explorer St, name me something that’s competitve for the price and performance. It’s an outstanding suv, and I caught many a Gt owner not knowing what they were when they first came out.

I did the same thing. My first new car purchase was when I was 45, and I bought something cheap initially so I wouldn't have a big loan payment. Waiting really helped me financially in the longer term. I don't think needing to be young to enjoy something is a real thing. I think the young take too much for granted. I know I did.

Ford makes a lot of good stuff. Great styling - Ford gets copied all the time by lesser brands. Yes there are drivetrain issues. Most modern engines are crap. Direct injection, spray bores, cylinder deactivation, small engines with turbos, data theft - all of that technology is a very poor value for the buyer. Same with modern transmissions, headlights, airbags, I could go on. But that's not just a Ford problem, it's an industry problem.

I LOVE MY BRONCO! Best car I've ever owned next to the Shelby. Looks, driving experience, comfort, fun factor with roof off. I paid 50k for mine all in, but I custom ordered it. You can get them now for a lot less...

"young" to me is anytime before 70+... I'm 61 and in good shape, but I can already feel myself slowing down a bit. Been a long hard employment road for me and I am tired and ready to retire soon. We have 6 kids and the last of them is finishing college.. so a bit late to the empty nest situation, but I not regret it. Kids keep you young and it's been a pleasure having them around. Still at some point life slows down and the kids are self sufficient.. money frees up and there is both time and money for other things you want to enjoy. So rather than waiting until I was 'retired' to enjoy a sports car I purchased my first GT at 50 and then worked my way up to the 350.
I know you can appreciate stuff way into your 70's and 80's but when it comes to energy and traveling, driving long distances (route 66/Europe are still on the bucket list), spirited driving, on track experience, etc.. I just want to check those boxes as early as I can between 50-70 because we just don't know how much time we have left on this earth..

Your screenshot has employee pricing not MSRP and omits the ST trim level. Employee pricing ends on July 6th.

Isn't the ST line next to the Tremor in the poster's screenshot?

Ok? That’s the current price is it not? I didn’t pay sticker for my Explorer ST (or my Mustang for that matter). Only option it doesn’t have is the painted black roof, sticker was $62.6K. Didn’t pay close to that and this was back in December, so well before employee pricing kicked in.

Yes, for 5 days. I wasn't replying to you, simply ones stating MSRP didn't start in the 40's. Active is the lowest trim I've seen on any lot locally. Of course nobody is paying MSRP, but it's a standard basis of comparison.
