You don’t really wanna do a flush on the 6R80 it has an internal thermostat so when you’re sitting at idle the thermostat is gonna be closed so when you flush the system, it’s just gonna circulate transmission fluid through the cooler. It won’t even enter the transmission or get any fluids out.

Yikes! Do you know this for a fact. I just had mine flushed. I discussed a flush vs a drain & fill with the Ford Dealer BEFORE it was done. I was concerned about build up on the Lead Frame as well as having the filter replaced. After consultations with the "Master Technician" at the Ford Dealer the flush was the only practical solution. But the fact that the fluid wouldn't circulate during the flush was NEVER mentioned. If this is true the flush is worthless and the ONLY practical method is a drain & fill.

Please advise. I'd like to prevent catastrophic trans problems. That's why I had the flush done.

Yes, the 6r80 and the 10r80 have a thermostat that prevents fluid from circulating through the cooler until the transmission reaches like 175 temperature so if you try to flush using the cooling lines (which is how it’s done) it just flushes the cooler. a lot of places sell thermostat bypasses for these transmissions

So droping say say 5l out ( and re filling) is not diluting the fluid? Add a clean filter and drop the ATF say three times is of no value ?
in the next few days When I’m home I will drop the fluid, replace the filter …it will give me piece of mind …it’s 9 years old what harm will it do …? I have ordered a remote dipstick kit to aid filling and checking to speed this rather time consuming process up, I will braze in a drain plug as well

Dumping the pan and changing the filter is fine. There’s no way to change all the fluid at once. You can drive the car and get the trans warm then pull a cooler line start the car and let it flow into a clean container that you can measure. When it starts pumping air turn off the car. Then replace the amount taken out. Still won’t get it all though

if I drain and fill and don’t flush it a few times will it add Value ?
I was thinking of draining and replacing over say a few week period, I have now completed all the other maintenance tasks ( rad fluid, plugs, oil and filter) I found two of the plugs hand tight almost lose ( the two rear on left side ) this is how the factory works

Guys I also removed the big pipe that pumps air noise into the car, I sealed off on the intake and plugged the firewall im trying to clean up on a budget the engine bay a bit - considering adding a Nitrouse kit at this stage a super charger in SA is almost more than the value of the car any constructive thoughts on this

If you drop the pan, replace the filter, put a plug in the pan so you can drain it a few times and replace it. Yes, this will absolutely make a big difference even though you won’t get all the fluid out you’re still gonna change out a large percentage of it. I see nothing wrong with this plan at all.

Make sure you get the right transmission fluid. The parts store isn’t always right. I had them try to give me the wrong fluid a couple times it will destroy your transmission.

I’m not a big fan of running a dry kit, but if you run a wet kit and you upgrade your fuel pump you should be fine but keep your shot around 150 if you wanna run a big nitrous kit you’re gonna have to make some modifications by the time you’re done it cost as much as a supercharger so keep it down around 150 change your pump use a wet kit you’ll be all right oh and make sure you change your plugs and if you know you’re running nitrous that day, put some octane booster in it or get a E85 tune extra octane is gonna help you not pull so much timing

A used centrifugal kit can be got for around $4000 There’s a vortech kit on eBay right now for $4800
