The ZR1 was on stock street settings for the suspension as well, while the GTD was on a track alignment.

It was really entertaining watching those two cars go wheel to wheel around the track. It really high lighted the difference in the two chassis.

I'd say they were pretty evenly matched except for the horse power.

Great video. And great guys. Cleet and Vaughn have done more for the enthusiast community than any I know of in the last few years. Vaughn gets a smaller pulley and an E85 tune and it will come on down. Of course Cleet can get a track alignment and some bigger meats and the scales can tip again. Always a goal to chase in the car community :)

Basically equivalent to watching reruns at this point. the ZR1 was always going to curbstomp the GTD with the power differential plus traction. called it well before either came out.

But if the GTD Competition got serious with 1000+ HP at the wheels, then I expect it to stomp the ZR1 at the track if not the strip.

All the stock config videos will be the same until the new GTD comes out.

Both are epic bits of machinery. But that 1100rwhp ver’s 750 rwhp GTD that’s a HUGE difference. Give the zr1 and track alignment and the GTD 10lbs more boost and then it would be a race.

Not a huge Cleetus fan, I find some of his stuff a bit over the top in an attempt to get views. I get that’s the name of the game with the YouTube stuff and it’s worked for him.

But, I did enjoy this video. We need Ford and Chevy to keep going at each other. And more guys like these 2 taking them head to head. ZR1 is a tad lighter and has significantly more power, so I would expect it to outperform the GTD on most tracks. The numbers the GTD puts down for as big as it is is pretty impressive though. Have seen both in person, they’re both stunning cars. GTD has more presence to it, it grabs your attention just sitting still in a dealership showroom.

The ZR1 all decked out definitely makes the C8 body look better. Still kinda blends in with the others, at least moreso than GTD blends in with other S650’s (GTD doesn’t blend in at all really).

I am hoping for the return of the Camaro to compete with Mustang and push Ford a bit. We’ll see what that actually looks like. Mary still seems to be pushing EV pretty hard at GM, Cadillac is still tracking to be all EV in the next handful of years last I heard. Sad, the 5V Blackwing is a pretty cool muscle sedan

I kind of agree about the over the top thing. But it works for him, he is a brilliant business man. I just started watching him as the kid is obsessed with him :) I do find a lot of his stuff funny, lots of worse things to watch on Youtube for sure :)

I would honestly never expect the GTD to beat the zr1.
It looks so bloated sitting next to the zr1. If you added 300hp to that GTD then the race would probably be even or the GTD would win because it was handling better than cleets zr1. But at the same time all cleetus needs is better tires especially the front tires and the zr1 would be gone again. The GTD is too fat for a track car.

The ZR1 has the same tires, just not as wide in the front, as the GTD.

Cleetus said in the next video the GTD drives better, turns better, etc. If he had to pick one to drive on a track day he’d pick the GTD.

I think it’s pretty obvious the GTD and ZR1(X) weren’t really built for the same thing. Ford seemed to build a production GT3 car, a fat one, but a GT3 car. Chevy just built an absolute monster in damn near every sense.

I love that Z C8s. If I had the ability to buy one it would be the Z cars, not the GTD so I’m not trying to drag Chevy for their method by any means.

Yeah I know... What I'm saying is, if you put an actual set of track oriented tires on the zr1 then the GTD will never touch it.

I've gotta say, I have followed cleetus for a while now and some stuff now with his videos are hit or miss. He does stuff with so many different vehicles which is entertaining.

Getting back to the zr1 vs the gtd event, which was absolutely amazing btw, glad to see "normal" people (meaning non track focused drivers) drive these cars to their personal experience limits.

Don't forget, the zr1 has been tuned, so its making more power than a standard zr1. Vaugh is planning to do long tubes and a less restrictive exhaust and and smaller pulley and a tune.

Im super excited to see how this all plays out.
