Hi folks,

I've been interested for awhile on pulling the trigger on a set of 4.09 gear for my 2020 GT (6-Speed).

Well the day has come that im ready! but it turns out that the 4.09 gear and pinion set was discontinued from ford performance?

I found this manufacturer (Richmond). Anyone have first hand experience with this gear kit?

Alternatively, is there a reliable dealer that still ships out 4.09 gear kit from ford performance?

Richmond is owned by or merged with Motive at some point, quality gears made in Italy

Any opinion about the 409 gear set for the 2019 series S550 anybody else do it?

@Cpcloud did you do this install? I’m planning the same and would love to hear your experience.

Not yet, still TBD unfortunately.

Fixated on 4.09 + Vortech Supercharger.

Also interested in hearing opinions about the Richmond sets. Specifically curious if anyone has any real world experience with a set and if they whine more than stock.

Richmond will be fine. It’s the mechanic setting up the diff that will matter more than anything.

That’s turning out to be my biggest issue… I’ve called four shops in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and only one place would actually do the install and quoted $1,250 for labor…

If anyone has a recommendation for my area, please let me know!

I did 409’s in my 2018 GT manual and loved them. Wouldn’t go deeper. Install is very time consuming so that $1250 labor isn’t terrible. I removed the diff myself and took it to a guy to set the gears so I saved a lot of money that way.

I went from 3.55 to 4.0X in my 23 GT 6 spd. I ran into all sorts of problems and no one could figure it out. Ended up going back and all of the issues went away. They felt so much better though.

I am happy with the 3.73 stock gears in my 2015 pp1 GT. The only thing I will be changing is the MT82 transmission. Going with the Calimer stage two. I just got my telescoping transmission jack today. It is a well-built unit. Now I will be ordering the clutch and flywheel, hydraulic line, throw out bearing and transmission.
