I’ve got a Stage 2 Whipple on order, should arrive within the next month or so. Currently running the P4S’s all around, everyone keeps telling me how bad I’m going to spin, what tires are you boosted guys running? My car is on the street 95% of the time, not out at the drag or track really like that… HELP!

My opinion is the nitto nt555r2 is a really good compromise. The et street R is generally regarded as “better” in perfect conditions but overall pretty much just sucks in all other aspects related to tire performance.

I appreciate the insight, if it helps I’m down in the North Texas area, it’s summer tire year around and the car isn’t daily driven. I say that to say it’s only really driven in great conditions….still same recommendation?

The P4S is going to be worthless. I presently have the P4S in 305 width on my 2018 GT with a Procharger (dyno'ed at 780 whp) and they are banana peels below 55 mph.

A stock Honda Civic could probably do me in, stop light to stop light.

Nitto 555R2 is your best bet like engineermike recommended. I had them before and they still would not grip below 50 mph on a 70 degree plus day.

On a cool day the 555R2 will be a banana peel too.

I’m a Mach 1 with HP… so I’m running 315/30/19, looks like the neither the Nitto or the ET STREET R come in that size. Is there anything out there that will allow me to keep the OEM size?

Get the whipple installed and see how you like the mp4s. No tire is going to give a boosted gt great traction on the street so you're going to have to work the throttle regardless of what tire you put on it.

You'll have to drop to the Nitto 305/35r19 555r2.

That's "only" 5mm per side, or 10 mm total, smaller.

I will give you my humble opinion. Your Mustang will not hook up on the street with any street tire especially on a 19 inch wheel, the bigger the wheel the worse the tire will perform at the drag strip. The P4S is an excellent all around tire. The N555R2, the M/T ET Street R or the more streetable ET Street SS will give you more traction on the street, but probably not enough to make the expense worth it and they have a ton or drawbacks, like they don't last long on the street, cornering performance, wet performance (ET Street R is terrible when it is wet), braking performance, basically every performance metric of the car will be worse with a drag radial except straight line performance. If you do that 5% of actual drag racing, just buy a cheap set of rear 17x10 rear wheels with a set of drag radials or real slicks for use at the track. You could even get a set of used 17x10's and get the M/T ET Street R, which should be the best on a prepared drag strip, or even better a real set of slicks and change them at the track.

I'm leaning towards the Conti DW06 on the 19s and a set of 17x10 rear wheels for stickies.

I am running the Nitto RII in a 275/40 19 (25psi) and they hook from a 40mph roll in second gear, with 3.73's

VMS wheels are good looking and very affordable. I would do a 17X10 rear with a 305/45/17 drag radial. The more sidewall you have the better.
