Dude.....the GTI is (in my opinion) the perfect car. Small enough on the outside to be maneuverable, big enough on the inside to hold a ton of stuff, power:weight to make it a blast to drive, the LSD makes you forget you are in a FWD car, the DSG is amazing and you won't regret not getting the 3rd pedal. My 2019 is a beast. I have an E85 tune, TCU tune, IC, DP, and some brake upgrades. My PR at Hallett in my Mach 1 is a 1:26.05. It is a 1:26.3 in my GTI. Car is amazing. Reliable and easy to work on too. I am coming up on 100k miles and the only thing I have had to replace is the alternator. Check out my video in post #18 in this thread.Yep. A new Mustang spec'd like my '15 is over $60K as you say. No thanks.
On the bold, not to mention everything they build keeps getting bigger. Bought the wife a new Escape ST-Line earlier this year, and word on the street says the Escape is dead. Wife doesn't want (or need) anything bigger, and the daily driver garage is packed enough with the Escape and my F150 crammed into it.
Just recently we had the discussion that maybe we should have bought a GTI instead since it's the right size, just no AWD. Argh.
Anyway, back to unattainable dream cars.....
