Well, to be fair, the harness behind the the dash is the main body harness. But to replace it, chances are, you're going to need to pull the dash.

Having pulled dashes before. No way would I ever do it again unless I absolutely had to.

I would skip out on the radio for now and tackle the gauges. Those are more important in getting the car driveable.

Does the car start? And the cluster is just... Off? Or can you not start at all?

I've done a few dashs in newer suvs. But I'm guessing it's alot funnier in a Mustang lol. Yeah it starts no problem just nothing comes on. Except for alarm options pops up

The harness behind the dash is 14401. eBay that for your year and attempt to find one with the same features as your car.

If you're feeling fancy, and you're connectors aren't butchered. I would just remove all of the splices and components the previous owner had installed. I can help you with any diagrams you need.

Definitely worth a shot, I always try to be optimistic. Atleast try to fix it before I ultimately have to buy something lol

If you can, get me a picture of the dash when you start it and the alarm options popping up. And when it sits blank.

Are these harnesses the ones for my car?

So 14401 is the behind the dash harness. The tough part about buying on eBay is making sure you get the right add-ons for your car. For example. In the s197, the harness is different if you have heated seats vs not having heated seats. Same with the main body harness for the rear which is the second one you linked 14A005. You can tell that's the rear because those big round rubber discs in the picture are for the fuel pumps.

A piece of advice I will give that I live by. Look at those pictures. In those pictures look for the label that identifies the part number. Then, in your own car, look behind panels in those locations for your own label. Take a picture and save it. Then you will know the harness numbers you need to search for.

Was this all done to upgrade the radio and add an amp? I know zero about wiring but know enough that I could never tackle a job like this,
I wish you luck

Alright here's what i find. Looks like the numbers match. Just wondering about a couple letters do they matter?

So here is my experience with part numbers. The very first Letter denotes the year (THE HARNESS WAS MADE, NOT THE CAR).

A 2011
B 2012
C 2013
D 2014
F 2015
G 2016
This is for your own knowledge.

If I recall correctly, either the R or the 3 indicates mustang. Can't remember though. The fourth letter indicates the department responsible for the part (engineering, electrical, etc).

Then comes the part identifier. In this case 14401 and 14A005.

G281T would be on multiple harnesses indicating they link together as one bigger system.

Finally, and this is the most important. The suffix.

The last digits are the most important and least important.

The first digit in the suffix is the one you want to pay attention to.

The first digit indicates the...hmmm.. how can I put this... Feature list...

For example. A car without heated seats might have the suffix start with A. A car with heated seats would have the suffix start with B.

The next letter indicates the revision of that particular harness. Maybe they improved a terminal, maybe they increase the gauge of one particular wire

so we go from AA to AB.
Those two would be functionally identical.

BA would go to BB.

I've seen
BA go all the way to BF.

So in the case of yours.. I would try to find
FR3T-14401-F##
FR3T-14A005-S##

Its not to say the others won't work. But you may end up with a non premium harness... Or a harness for an automatic while you have a manual.

When I was adding heated seats to my car. I created a Google doc and would list the harness model number from eBay, the vin it came from (usually in the eBay description) and try to gather as much data as I could. Before I knew it, I had a full list of features by model number. Like below.

To be 100% crystal clear, I do not own an s550.

My recommendation would be to simply replace the connectors that seem damaged and go from there.

However, in order to assist you. I would read this as.

I would read this as. The initial release of the harness was FA, then it was released with very VERYinor changes as FAA, FAB, then FAC, finally, that was replaced with FB and so on. Until it got to FD and was fully deprecated.

All harnesses with part number with T have been deprecated. And replaced with Z, therefore, internally at Ford. The ownership of this harness has transferred departments (or they were renamed).

The formal description for this harness is:
*Fit Note: Adp Spd Cnt-Coll Mit & FWD Sns, With Speed Control, Sync II, With Instrument Gauges, With Security Pack*

If those are the options your car has, I would be inclined to believe that you can interchange FAC with FD.

Reiterating, I do not work for Ford, nor do I own an S550. I am just applying my logic from my work on my S197 and the research I have done on the S550
