Im not sure
Like I said, take a HPDE course. It'll show you how much you don't know.
Tires are a tool, experience is priceless.

As long as you learn from your mistakes, have fun with it. You won't know until you try.
I tried to teach my kids to drive their skill set, not what they think they can do. Then I have my car 6 weeks, turned off the traction control, punched it from a dead stop to and tried to make a left turn, and BONK. Right into a curb. Ended up having to replace the front facia. Lesson learned.

My 2020 GT with the A10 tried to kill me the first week I had it. And this ain't my first rodeo.
On dry pavement, nannies on, factory 265 rubber, I decided to punch it on a straight highway entrance ramp, it was perfectly flat and was basically an acceleration lane.
At about 55 or 60, it shifted violently to whatever gear, I'm guessing 3rd or 4th, and the ass kicked out, the nannies saved me, but GotDAMN, it certainly got my attention.
I was used to lower RPM torque, but starting to spin at the top of whatever gear it was in, at speed was exhilarating, to say the least.
That night I got on here and found out that the factory rear bushings to the rear cradle allow some kind of weird movement back there under hard acceleration, kind of a twisting motion especially on hard upshifts.
Eff THAT!
So my solution was a fairly cheap bolt on rear suspension mod from BMR, a CB005 rear cradle lock out kit.
I also installed the centering dowel kit from Steeda at the same time, about $50.
I also replaced the A/S 265's with summer 285's, which were still spinning, and eventually 315/35/20 drag radials.
But really the lockout kit solved my problems.
My car would still spin through the first 3 or 4 gears (base 301A package so we don't get the gear info on the dash), but it went perfectly straight, instead of the rear end kicking out when it shifts.
It never tried to murder me again after the BMR kit!
In fact I have one sitting here about to go on my 23 Mach1 as soon as possible.
However the different torsion rear end seems to not lend itself to that unexpected sideways kick out at speed.
But it's going on anyway!
LMR sells the kit for just a tick over $200.
Good luck.
I don't care what anyone says, these cars in stock form with stock tires WILL try and kill you.

I don't get some of the comments made here (particularly from one guy) about doing what you did. Trying to learn what to expect from the unexpected seems like a good idea to me. Sure, an empty parking lot would have been a better choice but now you know what to expect if the car looses traction on a wet day. Better to learn that intentionally rather then unexpectedly.

Just got a 25 GT Premium A10/3.55 axle for my wife. Neither of us has experience with an A10. I will have to install this kit in her 25 GT to help ensure her safety.

I don't play games in the rain/wet surface. I like to give myself the best chance possible to know exactly what the car will do. Never really understood people's desire to risk that. Maybe i am boring but there is no sex appeal in vehicular unpredictability.

There's only one way to learn and I think its best to test the limits and learn so that when you need it, you can handle it.

These cars aren't ideally set up so it's not all you. They are a handful standard.

The first thing a guy said to me about supercharging these things is to put some money in the chassis so you stand a chance of keeping it out of the hedges. And he was right, more engine than the chassis can handle.

One reason these cars get away from people is they are slow at low engine RPM. So the inexperienced driver gets over confident, then pushes the car into the power band, and oops I'm sideways and out of control.

Whereas I think the problem lies in JDM phukbois going straight to a high horse RWD car.

How so ? I've driven S197's ... there's no comparison, the S550 is superior in every way.

I had a similar experience. Highway, 80mph, overtaking a semi truck. I got about 3/4 of the way past him and he decided to move into my lane. Maybe I was in his blind spot, who knows, but he was switching lanes and I was there. Too far into the pass to hit the brakes, so I moved left and punched it. Holy mother of God! The A10 downshifted and the rear wheels spun just enough to shift the rear out and it surprised the dickens out of me. I mean, who expects tires to spin at 80 mph? The nannies kicked in and I instinctively corrected, safely getting out of the situation, but without the nannies, who knows how it would have ended up!

The service manager at my Ford dealer told me that he turned off TC once, and the experience convinced him to never do it again. I have deep respect for owners who use track mode and learn how to handle it. They way that I learned where limits are and how to handle a car when you exceed them when I was a teenager destroyed about 7 or 8 cars. I have no intention of repeating that with my 400+HP Mustang!

Not making making fun of you. But when I was a kick about to do something wrong grandma would say "You'll catch the Dickens!". So I said that to a friend and he gave me a weird look and said "The what!". Then I thought it sounded strange. I could never figure out what it meant, only what it sounded like. The Dickens. Hmm? My nymphomaniac girlfriend in highschool days would've loved that term.n

What tires were you running? When I first bought my 19 GT, I swapped over the wheels and tires (well worn uhp all seasons) from my '15 V6. I found I could break the tires loose in the GT if I floored it at 40-50 mph. After I replaced those with summer performance tires I was no longer able to do that. I can't imagine spinning at 80 mph with good tires unless I was supercharged or temperatures were too cold.
