I had a similar experience. Highway, 80mph, overtaking a semi truck. I got about 3/4 of the way past him and he decided to move into my lane. Maybe I was in his blind spot, who knows, but he was switching lanes and I was there. Too far into the pass to hit the brakes, so I moved left and punched it. Holy mother of God! The A10 downshifted and the rear wheels spun just enough to shift the rear out and it surprised the dickens out of me. I mean, who expects tires to spin at 80 mph? The nannies kicked in and I instinctively corrected, safely getting out of the situation, but without the nannies, who knows how it would have ended up!

The service manager at my Ford dealer told me that he turned off TC once, and the experience convinced him to never do it again. I have deep respect for owners who use track mode and learn how to handle it. They way that I learned where limits are and how to handle a car when you exceed them when I was a teenager destroyed about 7 or 8 cars. I have no intention of repeating that with my 400+HP Mustang!
As a teenager, I had a ‘67 GTA fastback with a 390/C6. That car taught me a lot. The rear end would never whip around but it could drift like a mofo. Punch it in any gear at nearly any speed and it would light’em up.
Great times and lots of tickets!
The older cars were great to learn on because they would gradually let go. The newer models hold on tight until they don’t..
Traction control is best applied with your right foot. :)

What tires were you running? When I first bought my 19 GT, I swapped over the wheels and tires (well worn uhp all seasons) from my '15 V6. I found I could break the tires loose in the GT if I floored it at 40-50 mph. After I replaced those with summer performance tires I was no longer able to do that. I can't imagine spinning at 80 mph with good tires unless I was supercharged or temperatures were too cold.
I was running the legendary stock Pirelli p-zeroes. I may have encountered a little bit of gravel slightly wide of the normal lane, too. The downshift and acceleration were very abrupt.

Figures. Those tires were terrible.

Yep. I switched to 275/35 DWS06's on new rims. Much, much better. I also installed a STH ultimate street kit on the car. Night and day better handling.

All these things I hear about the Mustang in this group makes me wonder why we purchase expensive cars with two types of POS transmissions, a POS three piece rear end, crappy tires, half the electrics on the car malfunction. The car is nearly like Christine trying to kill her occupant(s). Then we seem to hate all the items Ford puts on their cars and spend tens of thousands on aftermarket parts. WHY???

I have nothing but reverence for my car. It may or may not kill me. I may or may not kill myself behind the wheel, but it is saving my sole one drive at a time. I have no doubt that there was Devine intervention in creating the GT350.

The base wheels and tires and the MT82 leave a lot to be desired, and performance enthusiasts find the suspension lacking, but the 5.0 is great. So are the Michelin PS4S tires and Brembos brakes Ford put on the PP1 cars. I've never had problems with my 10r80 or had electrical issues. People spend money on mods like exhaust and cosmetic items because there's so much available for the platform and they find it enjoyable to customize to their liking.

So ive done spirited driving in the car and some rolls on the highway with an assortment of vehicles. While running errands after dark tonight I decided to throw it in track mode with stuff disabled to see what its really like to drive it with safeties off. This isnt the highest HP I've ever driven but by far the heaviest. Driving on wet roads I figured it be the best way to see what happens with the car in track mode. I honestly wasn't ready for it. Punched it in 2nd, tired immediately spun, kept going into 3rd still spinning. I was slightly correcting to point the car in the direction I wanted to be. All was good until it shifted into 4th and it just wanted to go sideways where regardless of correction it seemed to do whatever it wanted, almost throwing me in a full spin until I left it down to about a 1/4 throttle. I don't ever drive like this normally in the car, I just was curious to see how it was in the different modes, especially with no vehicles on the road.

Im guessing I'm not used to a heavy weight car when doing something like this. My fox bodies would always turn themselves straight when doing something like this.

Im just not sure if its because of the a/s tires on it or my inexperience with such a heavy car?

I don't think I'll be turning off advanced anytime soon..
That's 465HP, 3800lb+ and RWD for you....the best part is plenty of great condition recycled parts from snap outs into road side guards, poles, signs, trees, buildings and other cars leaving most of the car intact but written off.

Worst part are to broken necks and spines from high velocity side impacts...

Right now I'm a bit regretting sinking money into mine and purchasing a 25 GT Prem for my wife. I should've got two early 90s Fox Body coupes and put rebuilt or a crate of sorts engine in them. People think S550/650 are ugly. Fox Body's definitely don't win a beauty contest. I could've made them Highway Patrol style. Those cars are more solid in many ways. It's nice to have a small car with lower. But these new cars have too much power the way they're set up. I do like my 22 and wife's 25. I've seen too many terrible stories here.

Because we can 😎
Then why not order a Shelby GT350? They put better parts on them than most of us do. I'm not crazy about Shelby's.

S650 GT350s: Half the car for twice the price. Such a bargain!

Mustang. Mustang. Mustang. Found On Road Dead. From what I read here I'm contemplating getting rid of mine. They're all junk. And most of their owners are like hate filled Rednecks. They hate everything, even Mustangs that aren't like there's. Pure negative energy.

I feel bad for so callously calling them ugly. The truth is if I saw it in person I would 100% think your wife's sweet new car was badass.

I sincerely apologize.
I bet it's actually quite a beauty.

On a less discussed note, I believe the newer Mustangs have much better safety than the fox body in the event of a crash.

Because a lot of us prefer to make our cars our own. Nothing wrong with a Shelby American car and they do some cool stuff, but part of the Mustang culture is doing a bunch of mods to make the car a reflection of your personality. Some prefer to keep their cars stock and that’s fine too, all part of the fun of these cars. Everyone does something a little different
