Is Ford paying for the tow because there is a “do not drive” advisement.
They better! Might also be a job they could do with the mobile service if your local dealer offers it (mine does). They’d come to your house and do the work right in your driveway. Same would be possible if it’s a software update

This is easy enough for a mobile repair for sure! 30-45 min. tops and that includes wiping up any spilled fuel.

Yeah I think it really comes down to each dealer and what their mobile services offer (and if they even offer it, although I think corporate encourages dealers to participate).

I received notification via CarFax there was an open recall on Skye. Checking at the NHTSA site, my VIN is associated with the recall. Reads like it was just opened/announced. What details I have, follow.

Ugh. Just got my carfax notification too. Mine was October of 2021. About 17k miles on her right now, and I’ve got a small road trip from NJ to VA planned in a couple weeks…now I’m gonna worry the whole time lol

Thanks for sharing Skye. :like:
I wish I could say that I am surprised by this but seeing how badly Ford dropped their quality requirements during the Covid era parts shortage, this does not shock me one bit.

It is unfair to say that Ford was the only manufacturer, they weren't. They all lowered their quality control (some more than others...). It is just eye opening to see the contrast between Ford 2015-2019 vs Ford 2021+.
I can remember the faulty backup camera being a huge deal back then on various models (among others like the door latch recall). Now, those issues seem like small potatoes compared to the eye popping engine and transmission problems that have been popping up across the Ford lineup ever since the pandemic.

I certainly am rooting for future success and am confident that eventually they will figure things out. I do worry about how all these covid era cars will hold up to the test of time and compare to their older versions.

As far as Mustang goes, there were plenty of failures of the A/C evaporators on the 15-17 cars, rear glass misaligned was another issue, then the bbqtick on the gen3….
I wouldn’t say it was isolated to the pandemic, though it certainly brought other challenges.

So…that opens up another question.
If you’re advised not to drive the car, if you drive it and it ends up causing an accident would the insurance have a right to deny your claim?

Great question. Any lawyers in here?

It's a good question.

While Ford is not aware of any accidents, they have issued a delivery hold. Cars for sale sitting on lots, should not be released to buyers. While I have not read of specific verbiage, IDK if Ford would hold a vehicle if taken in, let's say, for an oil change.

"Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition." - Post 20, in the attached.

"New Vehicle Demonstration / Delivery Hold" - Post 2 Title/Subject

Also received this recall via the FordPass app. Recently installed the whipple stage 2 kit. I wonder how they will address those with upgraded pumps?
