So basically unless you like playing with fire, your stuck ordering the ugly 18s that come with the car with all seasons or shelling out even more money for a separate wheel and tire pkg

Nature of the beast. Performance package car comes with performance tires for 6-8 months of the year. If you can't afford to play (separate set of winter tires), should probably get a package with the A/S tires or a different car.

Luckily, I live in Dallas where it's more like most of 12 months we're fine. We do have times that it drops below freezing/40F and may even stay there a few days but overall we don't have significant enough cold weather to worry about A/S or Winter tires.

With that said, when I lived in Nashville on my '09 GT I stayed with A/S the entire year. If I lived further north I would definitely have have separate summer/winter tires. When I moved back to Dallas I needed new tires and got summer tires :)

Now, do I think they're being reckless? No, I don't. As long as they're driving appropriately for the tire they have. Would I recommend it? Again, no.

I think if they charged extra for cloth seats then more folks would decide that they are more comfortable than leather. Otherwise the premium bells and whistles I see more as maintenance liabilities than things I either want or can't already do on a cell phone.

I actually like/want all of the bells and whistles, but would prefer the "cloth" seats in the Fusion Sports package that are made out of recycled water bottles. Great feel, never too hot or cold and easy to keep clean.

I'm not familiar with those particular seats, but I will say that one of my big pet peeves with cloth seats is how easily they stain. I've never had leather seats stain, but cloth seats stain all the time.

They're very nice.

Only the "Sport Package" has them. They're black with red contrast stitching. Very easy to keep clean - as easy as leather. I hate normal cloth seats, but these changed my mind. They feel much different; Almost a nylon feel, but not quite.

If you're getting the base GT like I did, two things: 1) The 18s look good in person. Really good, I was surprised and 2) The cloth seats are damned near excellent. Now I went Katzkin leather but those are some nice cloth seats

Um... not sure where you were going with that.

Coffee spills on seats. Or soda. Or pizza sauce, if you're eating a slice on the go. Dirt, motor oil, any number of things can get on the upholstery, and they can be really hard to get out of the cloth.

A friend of mine bought a 2002 Mustang when he got out of college, and almost immediately got a... stain... on the passenger seat from... activities... with his girlfriend. Everybody whom he drove around always had to sit on that damned stain for the rest of the time he drove that car, because it wouldn't come out of the cloth.
