Hello, sorry I am new to this group.
I am picking up a 2018 GT350 on Thursday this week. The car has one owner, no accidents and 7,000 miles. I am buying the car from a ford dealer and they’re offering me an extended warranty for 40,000 miles up to 6 years for $6500.
my question is, I am already paying a lot for the car, and with only only 7,000 miles on the car, is the plan worth it? I also am only planing on putting about 1000-3000 miles per year on the car, let me know, thanks .

You’ll find 1,000 different opinions here, none more valid than the other.

My opinion… unless you’re going to be tracking it frequently or spending a good amount of time near redline, save the money. This is assuming of course you can afford to fix it if an issue arises. . . Also, if having a warranty helps you sleep better at night, then get the warranty.

Thanks for the help, I am not planing on tracking the car at all, I only plan on driving the car on the weekends 6 months a year. I’ve gotten a lot of feedback from people and the common theme seems to be save my money. So I’ll probably skip on the warranty.

Warranty argument aside, that's uber expensive. I too succumbed to the fear mongering in this community and purchased an extended warranty for mine, but it was sub $2K. Search around on the group here, you'll find plenty of reading that should help.

Buy from Lombard Ford. Real Ford ESP warranty.

As far as the car goes, you might or might not know if it has a Gen 2 motor in it. Or if the car burns oil. But with you only driving 1000 a year, I don't think any of this matters.

What State are you in. That makes a difference if you can purchase the extended warranty or not from an outside source other then at the time of the sale. CA and Florida are the only ones that come to mind with that restriction. If you do want it there's a few sellers here as well they're available online from Ford dealers for much less then what they're trying to gouge you for. As for warranty or not, me personally I wouldn't but if the piece of minds helps a couple grand for one wouldn't break the wallet either. These cars are solid dispite what's been parroted so much. But like anything performance and mechanical, things break. Congrats on the car. We'll need pics!

Only two expensive issues that seem to have occurred are the need for engine replacement for excessive oil consumption and A/C crapping out. If your car is a later 2018 build then former not likely to occur. As stated even if it does use some and is an earlier build, a few quarts a year with the kind of mileage you're talking about won't be a problem. No way the A/C is worth that amount of insurance payment.
As always, get an Oasis report. If it is okay, I personally would not get the extended coverage.

No need. It will be fine, just treat it right, change the oil as required and it will be a great car. It's built for the street and it will survive there just fine.

Lots of good info on this site and tmo.

It depends on the cost. I paid $2600 for 120 month 60k mileage from Granger Ford (expires 2030). IMO it was worth it, just for peace of mind. For $6500 I would not have bought.

Granger Ford is a forum sponsor and offers great pricing on Ford ESP’s. I’d at least price shop it and see if Granger can beat the quote you have from your dealer. A lower cost might be worth it

It definitely depends.......... if a gen2 engine, it probably "could" be worth the risk of not buying it. I know of 5 1st gen's out here in Colorado that popped the engine well before 10k miles, some as early as 900 miles. My car made it to 9800 miles, but yes, I do track my car and in general drive it hard as God (and Ford) intended.
YMMV

If the warranty that the dealership is offering is not a Ford factory warranty, I would definitely pass. Go with Ford only. and yes, you can do better by going online. Time is running out however to buy a Ford warranty on 2018 GT350s.

My 2018 which I daily drive has @38,000 miles and has never been to the track. In that time I've replaced 4-5 a/c compressors (can't remember the exact total) and engine, intake manifold, and a few other smaller items. You can probably guess my recommendation.

Earliest you can get from them is for a 2020. Not an option.

Bad advice

I think that says more about the people of Colorado than the car.

I paid $2600 for 84 month, 125k miles and $100 deductible. Definitely worth it.
