He's saying you do not need this device at all.
I definitely need the electrical boost valve for the whipple vacuum is absolutely not consistent or predictable. I sent Wengerd an email if it is possible with this setup. If not no big deal for if it does what they say I will be most happy with it.

I remember when I was in the process of going from dyno tune to remote tune and I relocated my IAT before getting my remote tune to flash.

The net effect was I could redline the car, but the throttle (ETC_ACT) was limited to an extremely low value. It was the strangest feeling, to have a supercharged setup that sounded like a beast, could wind out the gears in WOT, but was slow as a snail lol.

I can imagine that @engineermike would be suggesting to control how much power reaches the wheels by fine tuning the throttle blade opening depending on several variables such as current gear, current RPM, current vehicle speed, etc.

Wengerd just emailed me and said, he cannot control boost within a tune.

That is because you are asking the wrong question.

You aren't controlling boost directly, you are simply creating a restriction with the throttle body, thereby limiting the airflow to the engine based on speed, gear, throttle position. So, if tuned correctly, you can be applying 100% pedal position, but the calibration is limiting throttle position, timing etc. to reduce the power making it to the wheels.

Well SheepDog, I will change my question to using the tune to control of the TB position to regulate/limit boost by gear/RPM/speed Etc.

Not trying to shit on you Doug, but wouldn't it be easier to just be more judicious with the skinny pedal? What is the point of installing a PD blower to make xxx HP/TQ, and then trying to install a work around to limit the power it makes?

Or just install a larger pulley to slow down the blower and reduce boost.

Either way, could you reply back how it goes if you ask him?

I never considered asking Wengerd, but given my setup it would be nice to have stockish power in 1st and 2nd gear, then have full power 3rd gear and beyond.

Probably makes more sense to get stickier tires but I've just been living with only going from a roll haha

I sure will. If someone can do it, I'm in. That would be so great to be able to do. Im not saying it cannot be done, I just need my tuner to tell me he can do it.

The smoothboost will do that. Run 16lbs of boost when conditions allow, and then turn my boost control rheostat to lower my MAX boost when the conditions do not warrant max boost. Kaizen Is working on a control relay to work with my smoothboost to give me the ability to dial boost by speed which would be great.

The gen 3 ECU can control boost. I think @engineermike gave a write up on this very thing in another thread. You are not controlling boost but are controlling torque request which limits boost, Is the simple answer.

I'm surprised @Wengerd Performance hasn't figured this out.

Controlling boost as a function of gear, drive mode, or rpm is three different ways in the stock gen3 os, but all three ultimately use the throttle blade to control airflow which means boost.

Technically the stock logic doesn’t even work in terms of boost because it works off of mass of air in the cylinder and it controls this using the throttle blade.

I get that. It's just my tuner has to be able to do it.

Like I said, I'm surprised he doesn't know how to do this.

Ask him if he will look into it. Could be lots of money for him.
