Have the Steeda adjustable ones and I tightened them down and now they’re clinking again. Going over bumps. It’s driving me nuts.
Anything else I should look for?

There was a recent post about this. The concensus seemed to be to use thread lock (blue or orange) then retighten them.

I’m going to try *again* before I throw these things in the trash.

obviously it’s a pretty shit design.

this is the third time it’s happened. Absolute garbage product.

im wondering if I should try some moog ones.

It happens with all end links if you don't tighten them enough. 85 foot pounds min. The slot in the strut is larger than the stud in the links.

I think it’s the adjustment part of the end-link, not the part that goes into the strut.

Do they need to be torqued with the car on the ground? How the hell do you torque it on the ground if it’s so low? I can barely stick my hand in the wheel well let alone torque something with it on the ground.

You can torque it on a lift. I have the steeda adjustable links and I didn't tighten them enough the first time. I got the clunk. Then when I rotated my tires I noticed on the driver side one of the jam nuts was loose. No clunking. I just put a drop of blue lock tite and it hasn't loosened since.

If you are working like normal people without a lift and what not. You just need to get the car weight on the suspension. If you have the car on jack stands, take a piece of wood on a floor jack and lift the suspension up to take the weight of the front jack stands. If the discs are on, you can place the wood between the jack and the brake disc. Then you have plenty of access to tighten what you need to with 'weight on wheels'. May not be as good as working in a pit with a lift, but it gets the job done.

Like K4fxd said, they all clunk. I went through number of them, Whiteline has nylon lock nuts and Cortex is the best and the lowest profile of all of them. They clunk at every possible places - nuts at the strut or bar get loose or the adjustment / jam nuts at the body of the link do.

Puts some decent amount of loctite and tighten them hard. I use impact to torque the nuts.

Tightening link with suspension loaded take sway bar pre-load out, you do it on the lift or lower the car on something elevated.

Yeah I was just fiddling with it.. it’s definitely loose.

I got home from my parents and stuck my hand in the wheel well and yanked on it and it has play where the swaybar link connects to the swaybar. 🙃

You can tighten the sway bar without it being loaded.

I guess I’ll have to give it a whirl tomorrow. All seemed fine when I was under there for an hour earlier.

seems tight, but apparently not tight enough? That’s a thing?

I believe I have the same issue. I tightened the shit out of mine but yet to drive the car to see if it still makes the noise. Granted they were pretty damn tight to begin with

Did you do it with the car in the air?
