Kind of boring I guess but just curious….did a search and didn’t come across anything other than the regular Mustang change between 17 and 18.

So my brother-in-law picked up a 17 Avalanche yesterday. Today we had it backed up close to my Heritage and just happen to notice that the tail lights are different. They are both the old style (15-17 mustangs) but they clearly have different designs.

Can anyone educate me on when these small changes happened? 19 possibly? I am very confident that the tail lights in my heritage are stock. When purchased with 1500 miles, it even had the stock air filter.

Grabber Blue car is 2022 GT. Triple Yellow is a 2016 V6. Deep Impact Blue is either 2016 or 2017 GT350 (not my car, from a car show I went to). 2018 was the change in design for the Eco & GT. I don’t recall if the Shelby’s also changed that year (they could have, the redesign did not impact fitment between the different years). The design changes aren’t overly drastic, the tri-shape changed just slightly as you can see between my former Triple Yellow car and my current Grabber Blue car .

Headlights are a different story. The GT350’s kept the 2015-2017 design all the way through 2020.

I have gt500 style on my gt350. I am not sure if there's a difference between them and gt tail lights. I believe they are the same. AFAIK, all gt350's came with vertical tail lights.

I don't see any difference in what you posted. If you're referring to the horizontal lines on each of the 3 "pillars" for lack of a better phrase then I think it's just a matter of angle/perspective. Here are my stock 2018 GT350 taillights.

Well, I understand what you are saying. But there were 3 of us up there, all at different angles and we all 3 noticed a difference. Honestly it seemed like the Heritage lights were just tinted darker. But maybe all 3 of us just didn’t see it correctly.

The 17s lights just looked brighter whereas the 20 was darker. Just like it appears in the pics. The darker one has the horizontal lines in it, they are just more difficult to see from any angle that we could tell.

Maybe it was the light and we just all got fooled. We will go take another look.

All 2015-2017 Mustangs have the straight, vertical tail lights.
2018-2020 GT350’s and all Gt500’s have the “C” shaped tail lights.
All GT350 and GT500’s have the same headlights even though other Mustangs changed headlights in 2018.

I don't believe that is correct. I have never seen a gt350 with stock "C" lights.

I would agree with this. Neither have I. I was always under the impression that the GT350 had the same headlights and tail lights the entire production run, which was the 15-17 style.

2020 GT350. Appears to be the 2015-2017 style. Don’t know if it’s a 100% stock car, found it on a dealer site. I’m sure the guys with 18+ cars can confirm

All production years of GT350/R had the same taillights (the vertical ones). They never changed them like they did on regular mustangs and later on the GT500. The only thing appearance wise that was changed in the rear was getting the newer style decklid plate with the 2 horizontal lines vs the original one that was flat.

2018 and standard straight-style taillights. That being said I've seen weird stuff and remember one user who had somehow received one straight style and one C style on the same car as it came down the assembly line somehow.

I liked the "C" shape much better so I changed my '18 to the GT/GT500 ones. Everything I have seen says all 350's had the vertical ones.
