Excellent, that’s a good idea thanks.

Also, I call the flexplate hub the pilot adapter. lol
Did HPC supply flexplate to crabk bolts? They forgot mine and I had to call them. They are longer than normal as you can see.

Yessir they sent the longer bolts, the flexplate is the only thing I’ve installed up front so far.

What end result are you expecting? It's going to be awesome and faster.
I want to see what it takes to make it happen. I'm also very interested in why he got a torque converter from Circle-D instead of directly from JPC. The only reason I'm considering buying the kit from JPC is because of the torque converter specs. All the other parts are cheaper if bought directly.

I hear you. I'd assume JPC would steer you to a pro-torque converter. Which is fine but more costly vs circle d. You would have to test them back to back to see which spec is better for your application.

The installation is very straightforward. Bolt in flexplate, converter, trans, crossmember and driveshaft. Trickier items are shifter mounting, trans cooler/lines, wiring for air shift/transbrake/2step, reverse camera wiring etc. A shifter with rear cable exit will be much easier to install. I run a M&M reverse pattern with a Finishline Performance shifter mount. A cable 1ft longer is needed for s550.

I have a pretty good relationship with Circle D, they've went above and beyond for me multiple times in recent years and make a quality product. Here's the most recent example, when I hit him up and explained to him that I was making the swap to a TH400 he said "send your converter back, we'll do a refresh and ship it back to you all at no cost, then you can sell it". To me, especially up here in Canada that's huge as it cost me $150 to ship a converter one way! Great company!

I ordered everything else from JPC because I wanted everything to come as one order to a US Border store so I could physically pick it up instead of paying the stupid shipping fees to get it all up here. They are also good guys with a great company and have a lot of experience with these swaps so any questions I have is answered right away.

Agreed! This is why I started at back of the car with coolers for the install to get that out of the way, next step is pulling out console to cut the tunnel for shifter, install trans, then the wiring fun starts as I will be redoing it all.

My converter was built by Pete Nichols at Circle D. Same experience as you, ultra accommodating. I don't believe I'd ever go anywhere else!

They are about $2350 for a bolt together unit. They will help you until it works for your setup. May need a stator change which u can do at home with a both together. They can set u up with an exchange. If u get a welded unit, have to pay shipping each way but they will take care of you on the change.

Another vote for Circle D here too. Excellent support!

@80FoxCoupe When you switch to a TH400, what about backup lights, gear selection on the dash and in the ECM/TCM, backup camera, etc? Those were some of the questions I had when considering this for my Camaro and ended up just rebuilding the OEM 8 speed. But something tells me this decision will probably come up again for me lol
