@Noleftist I seriously thought I clicked on the wrong thread notification when I saw you here bemoaning your gearbox…lol

My mt82 died with less than 6k miles on the odometer…and yes, I definitely drove my car hard and power shifted it with a TVS 2650 blower strapped to the top of motor…

mt82 have more known issues than the 10r80. I’m sure someone in here will message saying “cuz u don’t know how to drive”

I’ve been riding race quads and dirt bikes my entire life 250r 400ex Banshees etc

When my mt82 died it was a terrible experience…but I was committed to my whip and building it so now I’ve gotta t56 Magnum with all supporting mods and car runs better than ever and can take a beating.

The point is you have got to get over this issue and get along with life. These cars have what is arguably the greatest V8 of all time but the transmissions are a weak link.

Life goes on. Build you car, drive and enjoy

Adding on to the 10R80 longevity .. mines at 42K so far with 10K with the Whipple.

I DID have a scare back in the summer where one of the solenoids seemed to have issues, causing a very bad 4-5 flare. Thread: https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...at-seemingly-fixed-itself-p0771-p2704.203278/

After that, I got my transmission oil changed and it's shifting like brand new....

Now I just jinxed myself I am sure ...

I’m surprised that no one mentioned your 10R80 transmission and the likelihood of it eating itself even sooner after adding some type of forced induction, or any type of power upgrades!

My Car has 9k miles now. The first miles were driving from DC to Key West, Florida and then back from there through Tail the Dragon and Cherohala Highway to Beckly WVa to D.C. Area, on very good roads and highways.
NO donuts or shoving the car and drive to reverse and drive to reverse and so on putting a lot of stress or trying to destroy the transmission. The car was pretty much babied.
The dive train is stock so no forced induction or any kind of power upgrades or tuners, etc.!

It is already in the shop again for the fifth time!
This time it’s been in the shop for more than a month and likely will be there for more months before it is repaired or replaced!

My wisdom to you would be to, seriously research how to make that transmission stop eating itself and filling the valve body with shrapnel along with the other multiple known issues of the transmission!!!!
Believe me, I have thought of the trans reliability and it weighs in a lot when making this decision to put more money into this car. My A10 has been pretty solid for 28k miles… I don’t drag the car much off the line but I definitely use the paddles 90% of the time and drive like I’m a wanna a bee race car driver… lol

This guy’s not being warned by anybody till this point about his transmission.
I would imagine adding power to it is not gonna help it at all!

My car does not open the valves under moderate throttle 🤷‍♂️. I honestly don’t even know if they open at WOT. It’s been a while, but I recall going WOT in quiet mode and it did not go full race car noises. That was before adding the SC though.
Not sure who your tuner is, but I had Wengerd set mine up so that no matter what mode Im in, the valves go completely open at WOT. This way you can cruise around in quite mode, and then give it the beans and not worry about backpressure or having to change the exhaust modes before hand. (its lame that Ford didn't include the hard button on the steering wheel for exhaust modes like the GT350)

Some 10r80’s fail behind 300 whp and some last a long time behind 900 whp.

I’m on my original 2018 10r80 at about 56k miles, supercharged since new. Roughly 850 rwhp now. [knocking on wood]

OP this does bring up a good point…don’t supercharge it unless you’re secure enough financially and transportation-wise to handle a blown motor or trans.

No, I can not imagine sticking a super charger on my Mach 1 for driving around the streets. Nope, never, ain't happening. The car is fantastic exactly as it is.

-Overall is it worth $8000

Overall it isn't worth it. I have an ESS on my M3. Runs great, outstanding even. I'll never go FI again as it isn't worth it driving around crowded city streets and it isn't fun on curvy back country roads. Big power is useless and boring outside the track/drag strip environment.

Actually you do have a good point that I am also thinking about .
using this power in a populated area is tough. Honestly the only time I floor it is on the highway, otherwise 500hp is hard enough to keep control of off the line or on a road course.
Thanks for this perspective

Is it dumb if the main factor behind me getting an ESS kit is the loud whine from the straight cut gears and the wooshy noises from the tial BOV :cwl:

Thanks for the good info!
DMark is the shop. In Schaumburg , He did my entire Steeda suspension in my 15gt .. he does good work and has been around a while.

thank you, this good info!
All good data guys.
So far it seems like this may be a half ass venture without bigger tires and headers.
Can I change out just the cats to higher flow without changing headers and still pass emissions test?
Drew is a good dude and knows his shit! I’m assuming he’s doing your tuning as well? I’m following along because I’ll likely go this route with my car.

Please fun police….plenty of spots to stretch the cars legs, just need to know where to go. I’ve had no issue having fun on the street with a higher horsepower car.
