I'm still running OEM cats, 2 years later (not that I recommend it, just my experience). I don't beat the utter shit out of the car, but I do go WOT at least once every time I drive it, I have had quite a few runs as well... so it isn't babied. I run Pennzoil Platinum 5w40 EURO Spec. I would def recommend a good tire in the rear, but I can make it work with my daily 325 hankooks. As long as your tuner does not turn of your o2 stuff, then you'll pass no problem.

Not sure where you contacted for the install, the $130/ @ 8-10 hrs is pretty good already but Geared Up Motorsports in New Lenox is a good shop, Brandon is a stand up guy and stands by his work and not ridiculously over priced, also has a dyno in shop if needed.

Do it, you'll want to keep the car another 4 years anyways if you boost it, lol.
Thanks for the good info!
DMark is the shop. In Schaumburg , He did my entire Steeda suspension in my 15gt .. he does good work and has been around a while.
I also just did research before buying my ESS G2 kit, also G2 on 93 biggest 125mm pulley, GT500 injectors/spark plugs, and Vortech BAP; looking to keep it at 600 whp for longevity/reliability

1) Does a super charger greatly lessen the life of my Coyote? Yes but general consensus seems that 600 whp is safe and reliable
2) Will I need bigger tires to hook up or am I ok for a while? I'm sticking with my 265/35/19 continental dws06s since it's actually easier on the axles/transmission/suspension if you spin instead of dead hooking from a stop
3) Will I be able to pass emissions still? Yes the kit and tune doesn't affect emissions
4) Do I need to run 5w50 oil. Yes, Rockauto has motorcraft 5w50 for the cheapest I could find
5) will the stock cats hold up ok? This one is debatable, I've basically come to the conclusion that you shouldn't do super long quarter mile pulls, as well as back to back wot pulls. Mine is a daily driver and I never race so I'm not doing headers
6) does the Intercooler affect any of the Mach 1 coolers when installed? no idea since I have a gt
7) Overall is it worth $8000? only you can decide that
8) My shop that specializes in mustangs is installing everything for 1k, so that seems about right.
thank you, this good info!
All good data guys.
So far it seems like this may be a half ass venture without bigger tires and headers.
Can I change out just the cats to higher flow without changing headers and still pass emissions test?

Having supercharged cars before that did not have superchargers from the factory, i'd say if the thought of having to pay to replace your engine causes you ANY type of financial discomfort or relationship issues with your wife, absolutely do not supercharge your car.

Very good point!
Certainly would rather have factory SC and warranty. I Have a deal on the table for a 22 gt500 with 10k miles on it for $90k (sticker was $86k)
And they may give me $40k for the Mach.
I just don’t think I’d be ok driving the Shelby year round and putting lots of miles on it.

I have pretty much the same setup on my Bullitt and don't have any issues with it (so far) and would not hesitate doing it again...this transformed the car into a "poor boys supercar" of sorts, along with a bunch of Steeda suspention parts, and yes you will need bigger tires out back...right now mine is wearing a full set of Cup2s in 305 and 315s on GT350 wheels which are working well, but if I push it hard those 315s struggle to keep up...next rears will be 325s...as for the fitment on the M1, I have a M1/GT350 oil cooler which was to be installed with the supercharger but there wasn't room with the massive G4 intercooler...and FWIW, my total build cost with an oil change came out to $9700 out of a budget of 10K...just do it, you'll love it.

I just don’t want the volume, it a definite deal breaker to go headers.
I’m 46 and still want the wife to get in the car.

I have long tube headers, high flow cats, and resonated X Pipe, and Fflowmaster FlowFX mufflers all 3". Unless I really get on it it isn't that loud at all.

OBTW my local Ford peddler tried to put me in an 8K mile '21 GT500 for my Bullitt and $50K a few months back, that's when I decided to do the ESS thing...in my mind I'm 40K ahead of the game.
Funny how we were in same scenario!
$50k more after I give mine in is just too hard to swallow.
So you didn’t do headers?

Is the 5W50 oil requirement just an ESS thing or would that apply for Whipple too?

I noticed weird VVT issues (weird idle, codes for failure to advance/retard timing, knock PID flatlining at 0) that persisted consistently on and off with 5W30 that have completely gone away for months now after reverting back to 5W20.

-Does a super charger greatly lessen the life of my Coyote?

It can. It could still last 100k though.

-Will I need bigger tires to hook up or am I ok for a while?

Not so much bigger tires, but better tires. I run a 275/40 drag radial

-Will I be able to pass emissions still?

Depends on your state and what you mean by 'pass emissions'

-Do I need to run 5w50 oil

You don't need to.

-will the stock cats hold up ok

They might if you don't beat the hell out of it

-does the Intercooler affect any of the Mach 1 coolers when installed?

Not really

-Overall is it worth $8000

Yes

Also interested in same approach to boost my Mach 1 w/Tremec but don't feel like turning it into a bigger project with upgraded oil pump gears, Clutch, Transmission, axle shafts, etc, etc, if I HPDE track the car -20 minute sessions. So, any consensus on track reliability and surprises on the track with low boost ESS? Thanks.

My Bullitt hasn't been on track since the ESS install, but as I still have the origional clutch (36k miles) and the flakey MT-82 both intact so I wouldn't worry much unless you do a lot of hard starts with tires that hook up real good as the boost dosen't kick in hard until 3500 or higher and it is quite manageable with throttle modulation...only my observations thus far.

I’m surprised that no one mentioned your 10R80 transmission and the likelihood of it eating itself even sooner after adding some type of forced induction, or any type of power upgrades!

My Car has 9k miles now. The first miles were driving from DC to Key West, Florida and then back from there through Tail the Dragon and Cherohala Highway to Beckly WVa to D.C. Area, on very good roads and highways.
NO donuts or shoving the car and drive to reverse and drive to reverse and so on putting a lot of stress or trying to destroy the transmission. The car was pretty much babied.
The dive train is stock so no forced induction or any kind of power upgrades or tuners, etc.!

It is already in the shop again for the fifth time!
This time it’s been in the shop for more than a month and likely will be there for more months before it is repaired or replaced!

My wisdom to you would be to, seriously research how to make that transmission stop eating itself and filling the valve body with shrapnel along with the other multiple known issues of the transmission!!!!

Not all have issues. I'm at 30,000 miles on mine with 0 issues and shifts smooth!
