How many miles did you get out of your 10R80 transmission before self destructing? 500 miles, 1k, 2k… driving type? Towing, city, hwy, etc.

Is the class action lawsuit on the 10R80 still going?
how do we find out about it?
I saw where somewere dismissed, but some are still ongoing.

IS THERE REALLY A FIX FOR THE 10R80 to get 200,000 or more miles or are they all only adding 1k miles?
List of failures:

When it comes to Ford 10R80 failure points, Dunsford describes three common problems and two lesser issues that may cause your Ford 10-speed to behave erratically and eventually fail.

CDF Drum. In earlier versions of the 10R80, a poorly designed bushing inside the CDF Drum slides out of position, allowing a Teflon seal to fail, resulting in pressure loss.

Outer Shell Problems. The 10R80’s outer shells are made of aluminum, which is softer than the steel used to make the transmission’s various clutches. Sometimes these clutches stick into the divots in the outer shell, causing weird shifts.

Valve Body. Valve bodies are what control the physical shifting in an automatic transmission. But if too much fine metallic contamination collects in the valve body, they behave out of spec. Which is why Dunsford always recommends replacing valve bodies anytime a 10R transmission is rebuilt.

Torque Converter Shudder. A problem that was much more common in Ford’s earlier six-speed (6R80) transmissions. Dunsford says it’s much less common in the 10R80 but can be an occasional issue.

Gear Driven Pump Noise. Sometimes the pump in charge of moving the automatic transmission’s hydraulic fluid makes noise. Again, this is a less common issue.

This guy does a number of videos on the Ford/Chevy 10 speed trans:

Seems to be a really bad idea to have steel running on aluminum!
Why would you have a gear with bearings only on one side?
Am I wrong is there a new aluminum that is as strong or stronger than steel or does steel still always wear down the aluminum?
As far as longevity goes, this transmission seems to be a real abortion.
I can see why the EPA loves it.

Thank you.

I got about 4 years (45k miles) at like 500 wheel hp, and 1 year (15k miles) at 800 rwhp before my 10r80 had to be built.
Who rebuilt it?
Do you know what parts and from where?
Any idea of what milage you will get out of the rebuild?
What parts failed?
Thank you.

My 2021 10R80 made it 11,000 miles before the valve body had to be replaced due to sticking solenoids under warranty. New transmission still might be needed due to harsh 4-5 shifts.

Yes they talk about it and show it in the video. The update is black.
Does that make it equal to steel in durability? I doubt it so is it gonna take a transmission that would last 5000 miles to last 200,000 miles or does it take a 5000 mile transmission to 6000 miles?

2022 with a little over 16,000 miles. Spirited driving at times but has not been on track. Mix of in town and highway driving.

I expect it to give out any day now (sarcasm) 🤣

Just remember Alice, if you join a class action or threaten a lawsuit, you can say goodbye to any cooperation from Ford about getting your car fixed first.

FWIW, there are so many lawsuits against Ford ATM it’s difficult to keep up with them all…lol

When the dealer was dishonest about powertrain warranty and my MT82 gave up the ghost at 5900 miles on odometer I viewed it as an excuse to drop in upgraded trans so I could push big power and be done…

Now at 800+ rwhp and 760 rwtorque I’m glad I went the route I did…

Thank you I had found that one and others alread. It says some have been cleared or dropped by a judge but not why. And some are on going.
The article likely won't explicitly state the various "why" a case would be dropped, simply because the attorneys don't want to dissuade potential claimants from coming forward.

Reasons a claim could be dropped though include operating a vehicle outside the warranty or modding the vehicle. Subaru had this happen when a class action lawsuit occurred that accused Subaru of knowing that their EJ engines excessively ate oil, were prone to connecting rod failure, but still sent them out the door. Those with stock vehicles had their cases heard. Those with modded/tuned vehicles likely did not. Ford attorneys would likely argue the same for 10R80 owners.

Zero three valve bodies 1 CDF recall rebuild now new trans still not working as it should.

In the process of third party data analysis and pending trans tune if no defects found in the data that could be warranty.
