I just hit 100k miles on my 10r80 5.0! (very hard miles) My transmission is slipping currently and super jerky I think it's time to rebuild it / replace.

I was wondering what rebuild kit is best? I unfortunately know nothing about transmissions so i was hoping i can get some suggestions. I plan on keeping my 5.0 as a my daily driver its currently fbo e85. I do race the car here and there for fun I was wondering what's the best route i can take to have it running brand new.

I was looking at these 2 kits

1.) https://www.beefcakeracing.com/mcleod-88198/
2.) https://www.lethalperformance.com/s...QIMu2uvTq_D-eN1Dyb4pem-1QsHu_glJY2beyY7rMfMwg

I was wondering what's the difference & is there other stuff I would need to purchase like a torque converter to have it running like its brand new? I don't have any knowledge about transmissions so i honestly have no idea what i'm looking at im just looking at the price 😂 what would be the best route to rebuild my 10r80 for daily use? What's the best inexpensive way to rebuild it.

Check car-part.com for low milage one. Similar cost to rebuild less risk.

Know that Ford book time on rebuild is around 7 hours R&R incl trans tear down and rebuild all parts in a full rebuild kit. Thought you'd like to know so it's easy to spot a shop trying to rip you off or incompetent.

thank you! I appreciate it alot

I was thinking about that to there’s 10r80s for sale in my area for 2.8k - 4.5k would it be better to just buy a low mileage one instead? Would I need to reprogram it or anything.

It should be from a mustang, same year preferably, low milage as can get. I would get it reprogrammed.

Correction: it's 7 hrs R & R plus 4 hrs trans tear down and install all new parts in full rebuild kit, plus trans fluid.

Torque converter should be inspected for heat damage.

From what I've seen around $3K is fair for one with under 20K miles they also ship them on pallets if can't find one near by.

Suncoast and other have built ones but they're over 5-6K. Their rebuild kits start at 1500 and up.
