I love those accents. I wonder if anybody’s done this to an eruption green car. If you have can you post some pics. I was thinking red but I’m not sure that would work.

Yeah red seems like it would be too Christmas tree. I bet EG on the hood alone would look really good.

I agree. The thought crossed my mind the second I hit post. I’m gonna do some research to see what goes well with deep greens.

Threw on the orange Mach 1 decal on my hood from https://zurkdecals.myshopify.com/

He also made me some custom door numbers I'll probably throw on next summer.

Very nice. I got the hood, and all the other decals as well (Fenders and rear deck lid), I haven't installed the sides and rear yet... The camera and lighting make it look really yellow though :). Not so in real life :)

That blue 2013 Boss next to you is one of my dream cars. Had one been available when I bought the 2018 GT, I wouldn't have bought the 2018 GT.

Tracked at VIR FOR 3 days straight. PRE: VP 622 brake fluid and Shell Rotella T6 5W-40. Those 3 days took my oil monitor down to 35%. Well plus the 9+ hour round trip.
Changeing oil again tomorrow or the next day.
Trying to decide if I should change diff. Fluid.
Ran on Mich. pilot sport 4S tires. They got HOT. Kept taking PSI down to about 27 and 28PSI cold.
Some knuckle head ran over my stuff in the paddock and smashed bottles and cans of contact cleaner and 91% alcohol, etc. without knowing this I put the bags in my back seat and when I pulled them out I realized my seat was full of fluids! I hope that will not harm my seat.
He’s good my car had PPF on it because they’re black, rubber marks and rubber all over the car, including the windshield.
And of course inside the wheels and track rubber stuck all over my tires still even after the 5 or so hour drive back.

Did ya have fun? VIR is such an amazingly beautiful and fast, fun track.
Had a blast!
It is a lot to process and at speed.
I did HPDE 1. It was really my first time doing any HPDE. I did something like it for part of a day, a LONG time ago In a Honda CRX SI at Summit Point. What a crap car that was. Even though I bought it new two smaller brakes and that engine ended up crapping out and the rear window pretty much leaked since day one.
Since I had never been there before, just learning the track was a lot of of my learning. Then I had to figure out what speeds I could do each turn, crest, dip, etc. . I felt like I sucked my first session, especially because I didn’t know the track at all and then each session. I got better and faster.
In my opinion, you need to be physically and mentally healthy and have a good night sleep..

First 2 days I did with the NASA group.
Also, I think most of us found it odd and bad that NASA let a guy out on the track in a old stock Chrysler minivan, which, of course always caused a train of everybody on the track behind him, trying to pass him.

Sun. evening I noticed the paddock filling up with a new group and asked about them. So I was thinking I already drove all the way to VIR, I needed to look into if I could run with this group and what the deal was.
So I went to the place I was staying that evening and started looking for the Ken Kirkham website for information. I spent probably an hour that night and a 1.5 the next morning looking and couldn’t find any site or info.
So I just took a chance and went to the track that morning hoping I could get on the track with the new group.
I then found out that they’re just word of mouth.

I had 2 really good instructors although they were definitely different.
The 3rd day, with the new group, I almost wasn’t going to go home because I was a little mentally tired. Since I registered literally that morning they didn’t have an instructor to go on the track with me. They were gonna let me go out by myself. But I felt for my improvement and others SAFETY, I should not go out without an instructor. There were a number of crashes in the racers and higher level HPDE groups so I took safety seriously. Even though at the end and during my sessions both my instructors said and wrote I did great and was safe. I felt like I would greatly benefit from having an instructor. Since it was my first time there I was just gonna call it quits and go home.
But then A guy that lives there somewhere around the track James Fritzen, saw me leaving the building/registration. He'd been there watching that weekend and not actually driving or instructing, saw me and said “hey I saw you here this this weekend” and I told him yeah I was gonna go ahead and do this new group, but they didn’t have an instructor for me because I registered just then and he offered up his services as instructor and I took him up on it.
We literally spent the whole day together. He even took me out in his S197 race car 3 sessions on the track., between my session. He then took me around the track in his truck and we walked and listened to the cars out on track at the different corners that I was having difficulty figuring out. That was really great.
On the end of the 2nd day, I met a guy named Ben and he had a Miata with a fully built engine and supercharger on it and he took me out for a session and he did a lap time of 2:11.4. Ben said he was not going all out with me in the car.
It was amazing to see how fast everywhere he could go even in the straights. It was a stripped, loud race car, had race tires, suspension, sponsors and He’s running on corn. It was just a not a typical Miata by any means.
Ben F. and his folks were great.

I feel like it really helped me understand that I could do a lot better.

The weather was beautiful all the days, but the mornings were cold and I’m assuming that’s why there were so many crashes in the earlier sessions.

Spectacular! I'm glad you had a good time and had some good instructors. Taking your time learning and watching and listening, and you will naturally get faster.

Great writeup, thanks for sharing.
