I bought an automatic ecoboost mustang a week ago, and later I found that when I shift, there is about 1 sec delay for the transmission to engage, anyone has the same problem? Thanks

Standard in the Ford Auto's, try driving a automatic Fiesta or Focus you wouldn't be saying anything about the mustang. :headbonk:

If you buy an auto, just let the car shift. All that paddle shifting stuff is just toys, almost gimmicks. Thats why its doubly as important that you get the 3.55 gears on auto so it shifts somewhat correctly and quickly.

Thanks for your reply. But this happens when shifting from Parking to Drive, Reverse to Drive, etc and I can feel the jerking

You'll find it's more rapid in S than in D. But it's not a DCT. I think my favorite mode is S, letting it shift for itself. It's pretty smart, at least the V8 version.

Thank you. Is this normal for a ford? I searched and found its signs of transmission failure

Thanks, seems I didn't make myself clear. This happens whenever I change from P to D or things like this.

As far as I know it is normal, I have had that slight jerk in my current Mustang and in my previous 12' which I have owned for 4 years without any transmission problems.

If you are still concerned just go to the dealer and ask them to check it out they will tell you if there is something wrong and just fix it without you having to pay anything.

Hope that helps!

Now that you mention it, I've felt that too, but it feels normal to me. If it feels wrong to you, you should probably have a dealer check it out... Maybe it's more dramatic than you're making it sound?

Many thanks. Plan to visit dealership tomorrow and see what they say. I'll keep you guys updated.

I have had that kind of delay on other cars but not on this one. When I shift to D, I get a silent nudge immediately as the gear engages, no delay.
