Sounds like alot of irresponsible and reckless driving to me. When you play around on public roads you are not only endangering yourself but innocent people. You're Just making a bad name for everyone else.

If you want to race and hit 150 take it to a track.
I've been running on tracks for 15 years, so yes, I agree but…

There are some places out in the country that allow a decent run if you're up to it.
On the way to the ranch, there's a road that gives visibility for miles and there are no roads or drives that turn on or off of it for the same distance. The only real danger is a potential animal, and that's a legit issue, that could come onto the road, but getting up to high speeds there isn't going to endanger anyone other than the driver of the vehicle.

Because I have a family, and I won't hit high speeds like I used to, but when younger, I would hit 170 or so in a 911 Turbo. It was quite exhilarating. Our local track didn't have a stretch that allowed for greater than 150 isn…

Speeds like that are ridiculous, irresponsible, and yes, "ludicrous" if there's a potential for other traffic, but if the conditions are right, I can definitely understand the temptation.

Brent, tread carefully my friend. If you have been just one mph over the limit you have broken the law like every other driver on the road and will dabble in hypocrisy. ;) Now with that said, excessive speeds with other drivers present or in resided areas should really be a no-no and I encourage anyone who has to re-think excessive speed when others lives are at stake. BUT…. In certain uninhabited areas with no traffic present a little WOT blast in a vehicle meant for that exhibition of speed when the only person at risk is the driver is understandable in my book. Is it the wisest course? No. Should it be saved for the track, probably. Is it a mortal sin in those semi-controlled circumstances, hell no. Just my stance on it, nothing more, take it for what it is worth.

Keep your triple digit runs limited out there my brothers in HP and keep them in areas where no one else can be physically hurt. Have fun but keep it safe. I'll make sure I try to do my part. :)

Again, not a flame my friend Brent. Just a little advice, take it or leave it. Peace my friend. :)

Honestly around VA I try to stay within very very close to posted speeds. The speeding laws here are unforgiving. Sure 10 maybe 15 over have your fun (I go a maximum of 7 over) but I'm talking about 150mph blasts keep that crap off public roads.

Here is an example of VA laws.

Posted speed is 55..if you do 74 you get a ticket. Pay the fine and -1 point on your license.

55 do 75. Instant reckless driving because it is 20 over. You are charged with a misdemeanor and you have the chance of instant 5 days in jail plus fine and your license will be suspended and the judge has the option to revoke.

Now let's say you go down 66 where it speeds up to 70mph posted...you go 81..you're safe right? You just pay the ticket and get the -1 point because you're only 11 over? Wrong that is also considered reckless driving because you exceeded 80mph...

Its not worth the heartache for an adrenaline rush

Just because you live in the land of the nazis (virginia) doesnt mean we all do. And nobody likes moralistic preaching. We drive how fast we drive. Get over it. And no we're not going to change for the shocked milquetoasters

If you ever been on the B-Line express way in Florida and went the speed limit you were a danger to everyone out there. Some roads are like that. Anyhoo I have only seen 90 so far.Felt like 60

Understood. Just remember the whole country isn't like the congested urbanized beltway you live in. There are areas where you can take it above posted limits, be the only person on the road, have visibility for miles and not have to worry about LE because there may be one officer on patrol for a whole county the size of Rhode Island. I wouldn't make any "fun runs" in your area as well. Practice what you preach. ;)

I understand your sentiment. But I had to LOL when I looked and saw you live in San Francisco and "land of Nazis". There probably isn't a more government controlled, government nanny based city in the country.

Couldn't resist. Again, no offense, just gave me a chuckle.

I live near Va and do my best to stay out. Tint laws are Diff and radar detectors are not permitted plus they tend to give out of state cars a hard time. Even when I go to Charlotte I drive through NC mountains just to stay off 81. Nice state but my tint is not legal there but is in TN. Cops near the line come with a chip.... it sits on their shoulder
