Yeah I think so ref absolute black, but I would still be careful as I think the strut bars are a more generic black / a bit more satin / a bit more like powder or epoxy (rather than a clear coated high gloss finish)

Also be careful with FP stuff being absolute black - I almost bought a 350 spoiler that was claimed direct from them, claimed to be absolute / non metallic, but was clearly shadow black metallic …

The strut bar and cowl definitely don’t have a high gloss finish to them. Depending on how bad the scratches are on OP’s brace, I’d be surprised if anyone noticed (or can even see it depending on location). Or OP can do something cool like you’ve done with the anodizing of some of your parts.

That’s interesting regarding the 350 spoiler you were looking at. I have the 350/500/Mach “Swing” from FP and there’s no metal flake to it. I wonder if the one you were looking at was repainted? FP says “Gloss Black” on their site for the Swing. The 350 Track Pack spoiler says Absolute Black.

There are original 350r owners on here who have also confirmed shadow black.

I know for sure my factory black roof is shadow black.

Then there’s the odd shadow black car owner, that claims there’s no metallic in it … ?!

My dad’s 2020 GT is Shadow Black. I’ll take a closer look, I don’t recall if I saw metallic or not. You’d think I’d remember, we just polished and ceramic coated it in October.

Could be a difference between Ford OE and FP too. The Mach 1 HP Swing is painted magnetic metallic from factory, not black like the FP version.

Yeah it’s not immediately obvious like some other black metallics.

It is difficult to capture (in focus) on a phone camera.

I suspect Ford put it in just to add some 'sparkle'. Catch a direct reflection of the sun on a shadow black part (so it's dazzling you) and then move around, the reflection flashes and sparkles - it adds a nice subtle visual effect

I’m in the Chicago area so I totally get that. Is it the strut brace or the cowl brace that got scraped up?

Got it. Yeah you’ll probably want to touch those scrapes up. That brace is a little more exposed to the elements than the strut brace. Gotta love all the salt they throw around here!

You’re right, sometimes it feels like one to me though, I purchased this car all myself and I’m 23, really my biggest purchase of my life so far. I love it so much!

Nothing wrong with being concerned.

Be a bit easier once its out of the shipping box, to fully evaluate the part. May see other issues that are more concerning, but likely not.

You don't realize how hard it is to buy something, till you try, & haven't got established credit or help on the paperwork via another signature.

You could buy anything, (new home wise) for nearly any amt, if you just had the ability sign your name on the paperwork..

They later called them "Liar Loans", cuz you could literally lie about your income, as nobody seemed to verify the the overall debt load of buyers. Or income.

that was 2006 when anyone could buy a new home..
... then came the 2008 mess, & nobody got held accountable for all the bad loans. You were in grade school probably.
