While installing my front sway bar, I noticed my serpentine belt was fraying significantly. I replaced it with the Gates K061066 (size recommended by Procharger). Upon start up, there was a loud tapping noise that matched engine revs. I took the belt off, reinstalled it, problem solved. That belt lasted about 4 miles and shredded.
Put a new belt on, triple checked everything, as I did with the previous belt. I got the same tapping noise as the first time but I could not get it to go away when realigning everything. I noticed the belt was sliding off the alternator pulley and moving towards the alternator ever so slightly. Once again, the belt made it a few miles before it shredded. My mods are in the sig, but mainly Prochager HO w/P1x and recent install of an Aluminator short block, so the accessories had to come off and be reinstalled. Any suggestions on where to start?
Tension was good using the "90 degree bend on the longest section of the belt" test.
