Yesterday I called a local dealer to find out about a new Dark Horse that's in its way to the dealership. They said they wanted a non-refundable $5k deposit plus a "market adjustment" of $20k. The price of the Dark Horse would have been $73k and change, but with the adjustment I would have ended up paying over $93k for the car. I thought that was ridiculous. For that money, I could get a Corvette or a Camaro ZL1 1LE or a GT500 (if I could find one).

What do you guys think about these market adjustments for the Dark Horse. Would anyone be willing to pay the 20k markup?

You should move this post over to the M7G forum because that’s where the S650 conversations are being discussed.

But to answer your question, you called on the phone. Whoever you spoke with threw out a number to see if you were a “tire kicker” if you’re serious you have to go in and speak with them. If they stay with the $20k ADM either buy it or walk away. It is what it is.

Saw a 5k ADM on a GT premium convertible at a local dealer this past week. Triple yellow. Was a sharp car but 67k for a Mustang is ridiculous unless it's a fully loaded dark horse.

Yeah, I figured they were also asking for above MSRP for the GT as well. 5k is a lot better than 20k though.

Never pay an ADN for a depreciating asset. That's bad business. Wait them out, they will sell for a "market reality" price very soon.

I wouldn't even buy a car for MSRP. It needs to be less than MSRP.

Definitely, I get that. But even with money to burn, there are better alternatives out there at that price point. But like you said, they want what they want....

I wouldn’t pay $73K. Hell, I wouldn’t pay $53K. There are still new ‘22 Mach 1’s with HP for $55K, which IMO, is a better Mustang.

Some people want want they want and have money to burn.

For the rest of us, we wait and buy under MSRP later.
Trust me I could go an buy one now. Wealthy people get that way from making smart decisions right? Cars are one of the absolutely worst decisions you can spend EXTRA money on.

It will likely never gain in value, only lose, and if it does gain in value (in cases where only that car gains over time), you'd be waiting quite a long time for that to happen with the price of these things now.

I would say Gen3 is a more desirable car all around. Lighter and less fluff, tunable now. 60k is a lot for a PP 24 mustang.

I'd say wait for a special edition.
