Auto Headlights Won’t Turn Off

This might be a good case for calling the windshield folks back to do the job right...or maybe determine if their supplier's rain sensor is defective. Regardless, it is not a problem you created and not your responsibility to fix; it is theirs.

Calling them back out could be a learning experience for them to realize they need to do the job right and have good quality parts the first time, ensuring future customers are less likely to have the same problem.

Eeehhh...but they dind't do anything. Don't know what you're talking about "their supplied rain sensor". Nothing but swap the glass out. I removed the mirror and the cowel to prepare the job for them. I monitored the whole job. In theory, I don't see where or how they did anythin that should affect this. There's no sensors or electronics connected to the glass on this car. The only plug that necessitated any prep work for the glass was the one plug on the mirror. Don't necessarily disagree with you, just really not seeing what they would come back and do. And FWIW, they did a great install on the glass. Super clean job on the sealant, very careful to dead center the glass, etc.

And nobody has answered me yet, but where's the rain sensor? You guys are in a 350 forum that doesn't have auto wipers. Guessing there's no sensor, but I don't know for sure. I'm asking.

AND…this started immediately after getting a new windshield put in. Symptom literaly surfaced on first drive.

Also for the audience, there is no fuse in the location for a fuse on a car with rain sensor.

Well, not really a detour... if the car had a rain sensor, it could cause the OP's problem. But apparently it doesn't have one. I haven't driven mine in rain since 2019, so I don't remember whether the wipers are auto or not. My other Ford, an Explorer I daily drive, has auto wipers and that's what I'm used to.

Soooo, it was interesting to learn for the first time (from this thread…thanks JJ), that the auto lights turn on with the windshield wipers. Even manually (completely separate and void of any auto wiper function…that the 350 does not have). Because, that’s what was keeping my lights on…the wipers. Yes, the manual wiper arm. Now, I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking “self, how was this idiot driving around all day and didn’t know he had his windshield wipers on??” Well, funny you should ask!!! I have yet to put my wiper arms back on from the glass install. And apparently I bumped the wiper arm up one notch into intermittent, and was therefore yes, driving around all day with the wipers on. Go figure! Now you may laugh!

Well, I'm glad it doesn't rain much where you live - must be nice! Now, if @ZXMustang hadn't brought up the subject of "wipers", we'd all still be wondering why your lights were on. And to think, when I posted the quote from the manual, I debated whether to delete the non-automatic paragraph. I'm glad I left it in... laziness has its virtues...

Just wondering if you ever figured this out? I’m having same issue with auto headlights. my headlights stay on, my dash does not show auto headlights on. My headlights will turn off in auto when I engage ebrake. Of course when the auto headlights turn on, my headlights stay on

Skimmed it and skipped windshield wipers, figured nobody would not notice wipers on even if removed . Position just looks out of place on knob
