I vote spend that $$ on something else. That piece has got to hold in some heat. In So FL you do not need any more of that. I'm guessing that piece + hardware will exceed $100.
@LevittownFordParts actually sells it as a kit for $77: https://www.levittownfordparts.com/sku/mustangengcvr23.html

I've already ordered new wheels, springs, and a front splitter. I already had shocks/struts to replace on my old car and a spoiler so those will be going in on this one too. Intercooler will probably be coming soon too, just not sure if I want to do that install myself and whether to go with a street or race intercooler.

I swapped in the steering wheel with paddles this morning and threw in the security/remote start module.

Unless you're lapping, the street coolers from Wagner and CVF suffice. Just understand you have to have a min of 25-30 mph for it to do anything

You're not wrong about the cost. My local Ford dealer (not the one I purchased from) quoted about $135 for the part and offered to install it for free. I assume that's just a matter of driving in some screws

The plot thickens: The same local Ford dealer checked my VIN in their internal systems and said there is nothing showing that would indicate there shouldn't be an engine cover. They said my vehicle is therefore a "misbuilt unit" and the dealer I purchased it from should have filed a claim immediately after they received the vehicle to obtain the missing part. Because they didn't, it is now their responsibility to pay for the missing part.

This will be fun since the dealer I bought it from claims it was never supposed to be installed in the first place. And, the window sticker on the vehicle actually came from another dealership, so I'm not sure who would even be responsible for missing the part. I guess there was in inventory transfer...? I'll have to present my case to Ford corporate...

I'm hearing the engine cover provides a nice retreat for mice and rodents in the wooded area I live in... Might just leave it off until I'm ready to sell it.

Hey guys. I recently purchased a 2023 Fastback EcoBoost Premium Mustang.

I noticed that it didn’t have an engine cover and asked my originating dealer about it. I was told that Ford doesn’t put engine covers on anymore…?

This seems incorrect to me. My engine even has bolt holes for something to be mounted on top.

My engine:

Is my dealer correct that these aren’t installed by default anymore? I can’t seem to get a straight answer from Ford.

I’d appreciate any feedback from 2023 EcoBoost owners. Thanks!
Mine is a 2015. But I like having it. I have received numerous comments at the mustang rallys. I got it painted and added the emblem.

This is normal, the majority 21+ ecoboost do not come with engine cover anymore, this was likely due to part shortages

most fords after 21 haven't been coming with covers
my 15 I took it off and tossed it. I change plugs too often to have to be concerned with pulling it off and putting it on.

Engine covers are good for 2 things. Muffling the sound of the injectors, and trapping heat in the cylinder head and valve cover.

...or cost savings likely were part of Ford's conversation to omit the cover. Sometimes when you have part shortages, well-run organizations start asking what is the benefit versus the cost? Do we "really" need to have costs related to having this part number in our inventory? Aesthetics generally get a lower rating in such comparisons, unless the component is related to brand image.

agreed, frankly I played around with mine for a whole year, cover on for 3 months, covered off for another and back.

The car injectors are very loud when cover is not installed, I suspect they either improved or at least had a revision with them with newer models. The sound gets really annoying on startup/cold starts, especially up here in Canada.

for heat related improvements, there was none really haha

The only improvement was the realization that it wasn't going to contribute to sales and they could save a buck.

What year models included these covers? I don't think I've seen these before.

Those cover are only for the 15-17 model years, will not fit 18+.

And are also aftermarket too so they were never included from the factory.
