Hahah thanks! I actually didn’t want a blue car as I have had all but one of my cars in blue. It is my favourite colour but I think I’m boring!

Just heard back it will be a new short block. Gonna get it all done, whilst expensive it’s not as bad as I thought (mainly due to the garage showing a huge load of goodwill). Will then take some time and see if I re-bond and start to trust the car again.

Whipple have blamed the open grill for the issues along with saying that it with the Fosters sound tube will have meant that the engine wasn’t getting the air the tune expected and will have over-fuelled. I think that’s a bit of a cop-out, but I didn't assume I’d have a warranty on the supercharger.

If anyone has recommendations for a UK tuner that will do a thorough dyno tune I think I’d be gong that way. Putting the standard grill back on and will have a think about removing the sound tube.
nothing wrong with liking a particular colour :sunglasses:

i'd have thought that over fuelling would have protected the engine more rather than reducing protection but academic now sadly. Good that the garage is engaging with you on the goodwill side of things. Dont know any dyno's down your way but someone must know places.

I had a new Whipple 3 Ltr stage 2 fitted to my 2019 GT, along with the uprated OPG and CG.

The Whipple tune was crap. I contacted Whipple and politely requested a revision tune to deal with the issues I was experiencing.
The car would behave as if my foot was bouncing on the throttle pedal.
To discount the wobbly foot theory, I drove on a flat, straight stretch of road.
I set the cruise to 30mph, lifted my feet away from the pedals and the thing still surged forward and then eased off, repeat. Also the revs would " hang " between gear changes (manual trans). Then there was the ridiculous over-run. Furthermore, the new power completely freaked out the ESC. Plant it and the power would die as the ESC would cut in. If I caught the ESC napping as I booted it, then I'd lose all driver modes and other functions. There were one or two other niggles I cant recall now. In my view, issues I had hoped Whipple could address.
Whipple did not respond!

I know someone in the drag bike racing world and he told me they are compelled to order quite a bit of their kit from the U.S. and that it's not uncommon for some companies to completely wash their hands of you, once they have your money.

So I spent $1200 with PBD, including purchase of the optional (but recommended) air temp sensor, that you have to install at the back of the SC unit (that was fun, NOT).
After producing a log, PBD had me remove the new sensor and install the original, so that was over £100 wasted, IIRC.

Then there were the communications. Rob Shoemaker doesn't like to read or write emails. All emails I received were brief, one liners. I couldn't get a dialogue going to discuss what I wanted from my purchase. I just wanted PBD to address the issues with the Whipple tune, but oh no, they sent me a full-bore, crazy power tune, which required me to swap out the new plugs that came with the Whipple kit and replace with plugs requested by PBD. So I replaced the plugs!

After initial installation of the Whipple, running the Whipple tune, the car recorded 645 WHP on a hub dyno.
Only goodness knows what the PBD tune was making, but it was significantly more!
However, I didn't need more power I needed the crap Whipple tune, fixing.
I didn't like the PBD tune that much either, again, way too much over-run, sounded like a mobile pop-corn factory.

A short while passed and I emailed PBD, something wasn't "right ".
They requested a log, which I duely supplied. Then I received an email...

PBD:- " Oh, err, yeah, your cats are toast, you'll have to remove them ".

The assh0les at PBD had adjusted the tune in a way which destroyed my CATs, perhaps they wrote out the regen, I'll never find out and by now I was very angry with PBD for friggin-up my car when all I asked for was to address the flaws in the whipple tune.
PBD didn't care, it wasn't as though I was going to walk into their shop to confront them over what they had done.

After a few years, I'm back to NA now, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, imo, Ford never designed the GT rear suspension for 700/800 and more BHP. On those occassions I had sufficient (ahem) " runway " I got a sense the rear suspension couldn't keep the tyres in contact with the undulating surface of a U.K. road, nor am I convinced my magnaride is a) working, because it makes no difference I can detect. b) I suspect it isn't calibrated to deal with that much power to the rear wheels. I was never going to disappear up my own behind, by following the seemingly endless purchases of suspension add ons / mods / replacements.

Another reason is, my engine wasn't prepared sufficiently for boost, imo. Were I to boost it again, I'd at least gap the rings and install uprated head gaskets and if possible up the clamping force. Also, cooling, I had the larger Whipple cooling matrix installed during the initial install of the Whipple, still got the original standard matrix, new in it's box, in the garage.

After all this, my advice to anyone thinking of boosting the gen-3 Coyote (I'm not an expert or engine builder, I'm just sharing my experience) would be prep the motor sufficiently and whether you prep the motor or not, use a U.K. tuner, someone you can meet face to face to discuss whatever your needs are from the tune.

Oh, and my car had less than 10k miles on it when the SC was installed.

MAP did my NA ECU tune. They have their own dyno and have done loads of FI applications.

May I ask, what suspension upgrades/mods did you do to your SC car? Thanks for sharing your experience.

Not sure I understand. Sorry for being slow.
think supersolo had issues with MAP before though i could be talking rollicks.

Ordered a forscan compatible cable... see if it can tell me what is happening with my throttle issue (be nice if it connects and i can understand wtf it's telling me)

I was out shopping last night and had the afr gauge showing as I zipped at 30mph between the roundabouts. Damn that thing moves about a lot lol. More info happening that a know what it means . Anyhow, washed the car, got soaked as the jet wash lance was leaking at the trigger and hopefully obd cable turns up today for a play over the weekend. Off now to read how to use forscan, homework for weekend methinks.

What makes is your jetwash, is it a Nilfisk ? (a leak in that place is common for them - but an easy fix) :like:

all good with the cars @WD Pro @2021 Mach 1 ?
Yeah all good, after a last min addition which I added on the forecourt :

IMG_0075.jpg

Which also fell off on the forecourt just before the journey home :giggle:

Joking aside Ford were really good with me again, assigning me the (excellent) tech that I built a relationship with on my first visit, and then did all the warranty work / back end rebuild for me. In fact other than me, he's the only person that's worked on the car since I took delivery.

They even left the new / boxed air filter in the trunk (I forgot to tell them this time about the AEM filter).
