So recently I got into an accident and hit a deer and I slid my car off into a field, well the radiator busted of course but I ended up having to drive it out of the field to get it on the roll back. The car was completely cooled off when I started it and it probably had a run time of max 2-3 minutes and i know the motor got really hot, this is a turbo car and i just wanted everyone’s opinion on the motor. What would you guys test to see if it’s still okay, what would y’all replace? Or would you just swap the whole motor, it made 0 noises it idles great i’ve started it at home but I understand there is a risk of something being damaged due to the heat.

No noises, runs perfect etc. Put a radiator in it, fill it and monitor everything.

What was the sign ECT got too hot? Dummy light? If so how long was the dummy light on while you were trying to get the car out?

Do you know how high the cylinders head temperature got to?
I do not know for sure the exact temp but the ECT gauge was maxed out when i turned the car off, it was stuck in the mud, like i was saying it couldn’t have been up there that hot long because it was sitting and completely cooled off. It was driven probably 35 yards and turned off.

No noises and runs perfect, i’ll change everything and do that, i checked the Ngauge for codes and ECT too hot was on and that was about the only one, i’ll check at home the temp.

Sounds like it got real hot indeed then. Guess you'll find out if you broke anything pretty quickly.

Keep an eye on the oil to see if any water is getting in. That would be a sign of a leaking head gasket/warped head. I can't see anything else getting damaged in that short of time.

You're contemplating replacing a perfectly running engine?

Relax, your engine is fine. Running it for 2-3 minutes without coolant isn't going to hurt it a bit.

Running an engine without OIL kills it instantly, but an engine can run without a cooling system for quite some time before anything bad happens.

Just relax, it's fine.

Definitely will be changing the oil and looking through that.

Yes, the car makes around 1000whp so if there are any signs of damage due to the heat i’m sure they’d show faster on a boosted car than a stock one, i would just rather avoid getting stranded and replacing it now if need be. I’ll change everything out, do a compression test or leak down test and look it over.

Ignore all of that. I promise you, you did NOT warp anything, or blow any gaskets. It's perfectly fine. No problems.

You did nothing to hurt the car/engine. Just relax, it's perfectly fine. 2-3 minutes wouldn't cause anything to over-heat.

Who built the car up to 1000HP?

Exactly. If he wasn’t seeing white, or blue smoke out of it, or hearing knocking, chirping, squealing, it didn’t overheat much.

It’s a stock motor and trans car for now but it’s a single turbo car and i have settings for a little over 1k but it rarely sees that, i normally keep it down on like 10psi. Makes 0 noises no squeaks or any smoke.
