Agreed, but it's not a bespoke tube frame chassis or anything either. I'm assuming they'll build these alongside the GT3 cars although the GT3 cars don't actually use the cantilever inboard rear suspension as that's not FIA legal for some reason.
Agreed.

I’d love to see the GTD and the GT go head to head and see how they fare against each other. Just for shits and giggles.

I don’t know why I was so excited about this reveal. I should have known this vehicle would cost as much as a house.
I mean I doubt there would be any ADM like folks are saying since you are technically ordering direct from Multimatic (again I've never gone through this process and probably never will so I can't confirm) but the way housing market has been, this is actually cheaper than most decent houses in my area at least assuming you can get it at the suppossed $300K asking price.

I want to slightly poke at your prior comments here just because (at least looking at the press briefings) it really only looks like your explanation really waters down what they are doing. It looks like the entire chassis had significant Carbon-Fiberfication (I'm making this a word now).

And I'll agree with you on the FIA Legality of the rear suspension, but maybe I'm just not big brain enough to understand their reasoning.

Yes,I have a gt and have had 7 of em and a 500. But if anyone would pay 300k for a ford product they're ludicrous. Way better made products out there at that price point
I mean, I just don’t know how to react. Either you failed to understand I said “Ford GT” and not “Mustang GT” or you’re so rich to have own 7 GTs and are a hypocrite for talking trash about Ford. Either way, that’s just an embarrassing post for you 🤣

Will be curious to see what the options above the base car are and pricing for those options. I read in the press release about some optionality with suspension and aero. I’m guessing there will be a few different wheel choices and color choices as well, just not sure how much of that is built into the base price (probably won’t know unless they put a configurator online).

Not the chassis, just the body. They re-skin the entire car in Carbon with 100% bespoke panels (except the doors), but the chassis itself is still steel.

I dont know what carbon-fiberication you think youre seeing of thr chassi. These are literally all of the carbon fiber parts right here.

I'm not trying to downplay this car. it's a serious engineering exercise. In fact I think it may be more work to turn the S650 chassis into this than starting from scratch.

Given what I saw in the Ford GT Configurator I'm guessing it'll be color options, stripes, stitching options, etc. Basically cosmetic and wheel design.

Well then I misunderstood the press briefings then. Granted we are just staring at Computer generated models and you can make the argument there is still plenty of time for them to change stuff (granted they probably won't but who knows)

Most likely. Here’s what I saw in the press release about an optional aero package. There’s also some additional carbon fiber options as well it appears

I’m enjoying all the haterade being thrown at it. I don’t like the look of the rear wing supports hence my “barf” comment but hell yes I’d own one if I had the money and connections.

So can we just quit with all the whining about it’s price? This car was not built or designed with anyone on this Forum in mind. This is a pure race car for people with deep pockets.

If the chassis was bespoke to this car it would have to go through millions and millions of dollars of crash testing to be road legal. That's the reason we're also getting the Predator engine and not a street version of the 5.4 NA racing engine. Ford is nuts for doing this, but even there, they still have to keep the project somewhat under control.

So does that mean the DRS would fall into the option category too? Suppose that'll be an easy way to up-charge at that point.

Possibly? I guess we’ll have to see what else is released as far as info for ordering. I do hope they put a configurator online like they did with the GT so we can all dream a little 😎

Never hurts to dream. It would be cool if they did a Paint to sample option for the car too.
