I was willing to live with it until the CEL came on. And that doesn't bother me except if it ever legitimately gets triggered, I may not know. If it's catastrophic then I don't want them to ask me why I kept driving on it

I have a WTB ad on the forum but only scammers have been replying, 3 scammers so far...
Have you tried reading/resetting the code? Maybe it has nothing to do with the AE?

Everything I've read said it was because the actuators were missing, I've reinstalled them but the dealer said they have to be installed into the valve so they have endpoints (opened/closed)

Also the first dealer, the one I boought it from, had the car for a week and told me that's what the codes were from...

I disconnected the battery for about an hour and it didn't clear the CEL. Am I supposed to touch ground and positive together to clear it? I've never done that before and am leary of doing it but I don't see how it could damage anything.

The other thing I could do is borrow a scanner from AutoZone or something like that but I'm assuming it's gonna come back?

As far as I'm aware, you would need an OBD2 tool to reset the CEL, you can buy them cheap (or likely borrow/rent one from autozone or similar)

I believe the Mach 1 tips sit a little lower than the GT tips, along with being different tips all together

Your best bet might be the Ford Performance active exhaust upgrade (M-5200-ACT1), which gives you the Mach 1 mufflers along with some other stuff which you could probably sell to recoup some of your costs

Where in Georgia are you located? I ask because if you're anywhere near Atlanta you have to have emissions inspected and I think a missing muffler is a fail.
Pulled this off the internet:

If they sold it to you without mufflers that would seem to be illegal, or at least put you driving the car illegally.
As for clearing the code, I think there is a manual way to do it but I don't know how. The easiest option is a code reader or scan tool capable of clearing the code.
And, yes, the code will return until you either correct the problem or fool the computer into thinking you have. Don't you have any friends with a reader? In any case they are handy to have and start under $20 on Amazon.

Damn. That's an interesting pic. Everytime I think I'm getting somewhere, I've ran into a monkey wrench. Now I've got to dig some more. Thanks for posting that!

The upgrade kit you mentioned has been my backup plan for awhile...just really hate to spend that much money if I can help it, places have been wanting almost $400 for shipping for that kit also...

I'm just south of Macon so no emissions here. But I also didn't know code readers could be had that cheap! So thank you for that!

I snapped that picture a couple of months ago when I added the Ford performance kit to my GT and noticed the tips were lower than the stock GT tips. I remember thinking at the time, “someone will want to see this picture someday”, lol!

The Ford Performance kit comes with the Mach 1 mufflers/actuators with about half the pipe between the mufflers and the resonator, the Mach 1 valance with rock guards, and the aero under panel. Ford performance often has sales, and will ship free to your local Ford dealer.

Good luck on your quest

Dang if you weren't right!!! Ha!

I didn't know they would ship for free to the dealer...I'll have to check into that. Do I check with the dealer or Ford Performance? They're 2 different entities as I under stand it.

I ordered from Ford performance online, and one of the options for shipping was ship to your local dealer

As I recall, it came pretty quickly, and hey, the dealer even loaded it into my truck for me, lol!

So I looked into this and you're absolutely correct! I had no idea. This thread was totally worth it just for this information. I was able to get the kit for $1200 flat after using my points and the discount code.

Thanks for all the helpful posts you provided!

That’s very close to where I ended up too

I know you have a Mach 1, and don’t need some of the parts that come with the kit, but if you add up what comes with that kit, you reach $1200 very quickly. For GT owners, it’s a very nice cosmetic upgrade.

BTW
Enjoy the new car! I came within about two hours of buying a Mach 1, but at the last minute decided I couldn’t stomach the 10K ADM. I love my GT, but no denying those Mach 1’s are sweet rides!
