Thank you!!! Appreciate your help! It was rough idling day before. The car has had replaced solenoids, cam phasers, spark plugs, and I barely got to 40k miles this week.
This is because someone is throwing parts at it without a proper diagnose first.

[...] But at some point it may be worth to ask for a new engine.
Why not asking for psychological suffering?

A cooked converter can happen if the engine is on wrong timing for some reason.
Tearing down the engine just because a little piece has gone wrong... wow.

If the engine already had to have solenoids, cam phasers, and spark plugs at not even 40k miles then the engine definitely has problems. The converters are more than likely caused from that... so yes requesting a new engine is definitely on the table. I'd b interested to see what else fails once the warranty is out if not properly addressed now.

This is the reason I haven't tuned the car :/

It's federally mandated that the emissions system is guaranteed to 85k miles. Definitely take it to the dealer. P0430 can be caused by lots of things. What it basically means is that the downstream O2 sensor is not seeing the reduction of harmful exhaust gasses that it expects to see. Many things can cause that, an exhaust leak before the cats, a chronic rich condition, burning oil, a coolant leak into the cylinder, a poor tune causing excessive heat in the exhaust, a failing O2 sensor (usually downstream) are all pretty common causes.
Whatever they do to fix the P0430 code be sure they also find and repair what caused it.

By whom??? Who decided it needed solenoids, phasers and plugs?

Sounds like someone that doesn't know what they're doing. Just loading the parts canon and firing away.

Then take it back to them and tell them to fix it. It should not cost you anything, as another poster mentioned.

Plus, if they've tried to fix it and failed, they still have to make it right. I sure hope it didn't cost you anything for those "repairs".

do you know if this holds true if you supercharge the car and say the cats fail? will the dealer repair it or is that out of your own pocket

That is a drain hole for moisture that may get trapped in the air box. I would not plug it. If moisture is trapped and can't get out, it will get pulled into the intake. It will not cause any issues.

Once you supercharger the car, you assume all responsibility for the emissions system. No manufacturer will warranty it after that. You are passing more fuel, air, and exhaust though the system than it was designed for. Plus you will have to tune the car after a supercharger install and a bad tune can and will cook the cats fast.

Supercharge your car, and your warranty goes out the window. Dealer dependent.

Is somebody changed out whatever was easily swappable at the top of the engine because of lack of competence it's not the engine's fault and is not predictable of future failures.
How many solenoids and phasers where changed? All of them? Sounds strange both the actuator and the thing being actuated fails at the same time altogether. All of the four couples, impossible.

Sure you want the same shaved ape that made the diagnosis in the first place replace an entire engine? That's not an easier task than changing a few spark plugs and some plug and play components.

Edit: On top of that, it's not that some engines from the same lineup are born problematic and others are not. These are not people and don't develop mental illness, these things develop faults.
Finding a fault a making a proper repair does not render an engine more prone to future failures.

Most dealerships have AAA rated mechanics do the replacement engines. That is usually the shop foreman. Obviously you don't want just any run of the mill mechanic doing an engine replacement, it would cost the dealership more money in the long run to not do something that intensive right the first time. As always with dealerships, there are exceptions.

If an engine causes one part to go bad and they never actually came up with a cause it is more than likely to happen again. If the phasors and solenoids were bad from the factory then that's one thing, but more than likely its something else that caused these parts to fail.
