Whats the best way to Decon the soft black plastic on the back of the S550 Mustangs. I have a 350R and this is just a super soft area that marks from just washing. I notice because of all the dirt that comes up toward the back of the car there are tons of contaminants but i don't think its wise to claybar and Iron remover will only remove Iron.

Here's a DIY thread I put together a while ago for how to remove rear decklid panel scratches or blems:

The 2018+ decklid panel is more susceptible to marring than the prior 2015-17 panels.

Yeah that panel scratches if you just look at it. Really annoying. And it gets dusty just sitting idle... One of the things about my car I really don't like.

I bought a Drake decklid panel just because I liked the look of it and didn't want the pony on the panel. As stated above, the factory panel gets scratches no matter what you use to clean it, even a California car duster scratches it.
The Drake panel does not scratch when cleaning it, whether it be with the duster, micro-fiber cloth, etc. I have had it on my 2020 for about a year and it still looks new. It's not cheap but I was mainly buying it for the look and the fact it doesn't scratch is a greatly added bonus.

Same here. I put it on almost three years ago to get rid of the plasti-chrome "GT" and it still looks like new.

Do they have one that's totally flat?

These gloss, unpainted black plastic trims can look AMAZING, but it takes very little to make them look terrible. It's also unfortunate that car companies seem to put this material on high traffic areas, trunk lids, door and window trims, interior consoles, steering wheel and gear selector surrounds.

You have a couple of options -

1/ Polish and then apply a spray sealant or ceramic coating. These products won't stop the material from scratching but will help make these areas easier (and safer) to wash. However, you basically have to accept that these trims will always have some degree of minor marring or "love marks". Because this material is soft, a fine finishing polish on a finishing pad will easily deal with task. You real struggle will be the wipe off, as in not re-introducing minor marring.

2/ Polish and then have these trims covered with PPF. You can do this yourself with some a moderate level of skill, or, you can ask your local detailer or PPF installer to have these areas done for you. This is the only way to stop these areas from scratching. PPF is also much more durable to touch and (cleaning) than the bare plastic.

Me? I subscribe to method number one.

I haven't seen a flat Drake panel. Someone else might make one but I don't know if it will have the quality finish of the raised Drake.
