Has anyone tried any waxes/polishes that are specifically designed for black or dark cars on this panel? Curious to know if it works in hiding light swirls?

Applied by hand.
Thanks! I will try that today when I get home. I don’t really want to bust out the porter cable on this. I have some light swirl marks so I’m hoping I can get it out by hand.

The paint on the taillight panel is soft as butter. It’s a never ending battle fighting swirls and scratches. You can use a polisher on it. Several people have PPF’d theirs. I’m considering getting a blank Ford panel and doing the same thing

Has anyone heard of someone applying a 2k clearcoat. it would be more durable than the OEM surface.
I'd also like to hear if the aftermarket panels (such as Scott Drake) have the same issue. And if they are not, maybe a 2k black paint, and/or 2k clear may be what they have used.

I’ve not used an aftermarket panel. Only Ford/Ford Performance. PPF is probably the easier solution rather than a respray

What about gloss black vinyl instead of clear PPF?

This is something I always notice and usually correct every couple months.

I was dicking around on youtube watching Mustang Week videos and saw this. First trunk lid panel I've seen paint matched and I think it looks really good. Something I will consider on mine in the future. Though I think it might look better with the taillight bezels also painted.

S650 is body color on the taillight panel, so Ford did change it up for the current gen. I think the rear needs an alternate color to break it up a bit, but that’s just me and my eye.

You know I never put that together because I guess I'm normally scowling at how ugly the rear of the 650s are overall.

Photo credit to Project6GR. It doesn’t look terrible being full body color but at least to me it needs some additional color to break it up a bit

I have used black wax before, and while it does make black cars look a little better, it makes a damn mess everywhere else. I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze in this case.

And my own trunk lid is covered in scratches. The former owner was not too interested in keeping things nice.
