Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone has experienced cracking at the top corners of the windshield?

I just noticed this when washing mine this afternoon.

Looks like a conversation with Ford needs to happen. 😒

I wonder if that might still be under warranty!

Looks like a crack in the paint. There is some sort of sealer or something in the join there.

I'd think that, if the area was flexing and causing the crack, the cleft/seam running horizontally would also be cracked or show signs of flexing. The horizontal line appears OK.

Further, where the window meets the body, it appears alright.

Is that a crack, or how excess material laid down during application?

They are definitely cracks, maybe in the seam sealer possibly.

I can't get a photo, but the LHS joint under the corner of the windshield looks to have a small amount of corrosion and a small gap.

Will have to have the windshield removed to diagnose further.

The left hand side is concerning with what would appear to be corrosion present.

Did you talk to the dealer to see if they would do anything? I was just washing my new to me 2018 Mustang convertible. It was 23000 KM on it and I have the exact same cracks on both side pillars on front window.

I like to disassemble things.
That's just seam sealer. The panels are welded beneath it.

The same concern is happening with the fastbacks at the leading edge of the A-pillars to roof and at the back rear glass channel.

Check this thread regarding the rear window channel seam cracking and paint delaminating issue - similar to the front roof channel seam issue. Some M6G members are having severe cracking at the rear window channels, not many at the front. This one is the most complete with M6G owners experiencing severe cracking at the rear window channels:
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...ater-leaking-into-rear-quarter-panels.143545/

Sure, it is seam sealer, BUT once water gets into the crack it allows for greater and expedited expansion/contraction and deterioration in climates with 4-Seasons or a lot of rain. Not only that expedited deterioration of the seam sealer itself, but water intrusion will begin to make the cracks larger and eventually rust the area UNDER the seam sealer. Seam sealer is applied to the body before paint, so the area under the sealer is still bare metal and any exposed metal is susceptible to rusting.

@WILDB:
Attached is Ford Warrantable vs Non-Warrantable paint guide. The Ford paint is covered under the 5/60 Paint And Corrosion Warranty outlined in your Mustang Owner's Manual. It does not protect against damages such as rock chips or other, only workmanship and corrosion.

You will need to ask the Service Center to get very close hi-res pics with good lighting when they submit the claim. Otherwise Ford will deny the claim if the pic is poor quality.

Yes, I took it in and after a lot of fighting it got fixed under warranty. Ford Australia were good, but the dealer was trying their best to wipe their hands of the issue.
