I've always hated scoops/louvers. Not an S550, but the dealer put this crap on my old Mustang before it was sold. I had them write a due-bill removing them and buffing the paint as part of the deal.

They actually cooled the rear brakes! These on this car are functional!

Not opposed to the concept and really like the looks of side scoops on some cars. But.... the reason I don't have any is that all I've seen on an S550 are angled parallel with the door seam and most or all are longer at the top with a pretty pronounced "point" at the upper back. Not sure there is enough space between the door and wheel openings to get the shape and size I'd like best. I'm just weird that way.

Example: I don't like seams between quarter panels and roofs. So I passed on New Age Mustangs and also a C-Class Merc. I really wanted both but was too stubborn for my own good. If they want my money, they better make it like I want. LoL I figured out a workaround with 4th gen F-bodies: I bought a convertible. I figured they couldn't make a convertible top blend seamlessly with the quarter panels, so gave them a pass. But I did rarely drive with the top up.

I wanted a Taurus when they came out but didn't like the transition from hood to front panel. Had kind of an overbite. Sable was okay in that department but the Sable sedan had a roof that extended past the C-pillar; another pet peeve. So, I ended up buying a Sable wagon. Didn't want a wagon any more than I wanted a vert but whaddya gonna do?

I'm not a fan personally. But if you like them, that's totally cool.

Not my piece of cake.
Functional hood scoops are okay with me, but fake side scoops... no.

To each his/her own...but for me, if it's not functional, leave it off.

I think they are a tribute to the "old days" of mustangs. I don't particularly like them on the new modern S550's. Some things are best left for certain eras. The fake plastic fox lamps on the front fascia of the new Mach I is another example. Either put in functional fog lamps or leave that out.

I saw a few S550's in at the car show with side scoops. A few different styles were on display, but the one that I liked most was the Roush. I know these are for pure aesthetics. I'm torn because I've always made my choices based on function over form, but they remind me of my 68 GT. Be brutally honest.

The pic below is not my car but It's my color.

Ive seen Shelby's hundreds of times at shows and such, but this pic really accentuated the scoopyness of the them. Does anyone know what functions these scoops served? Cabin air circulation?
Not sure if you caught the response, but they're for rear brake venting, so they're 100% functional. That's the only way I think they look good either - if you KNOW they actually serve not just any old purpose, but a PERFORMANCE purpose. That's what makes them worthwhile to change the lines of the car. Otherwise they're cosmetic, and by themselves push the car the wrong direction IMHO.

Those are nice. They show they only fit up to a 2017? Do you know if they do them in Carbon Fiber?
Thanks
I am fairly sure that they will fit all 6G cars. Personally I would colour match them and only have the mesh in black. I have not seen them in carbon. I'm sure that if you contact the business direct they would let you know.
A while ago there was a video showing the hole in the panel being cut. It looked straight forward enough.

Change the grill clean it up, those are really out of place, and not a good look.
