Finally got the car to the track today. 1st pass ever in the car it went 9.73@141 with a 1.39 60'. That was on the wastegate springs (8lbs of boost). Full weight including spare tire. Started to turn the boost up but it seems like the transmission may be flaring between shifts. The transmission was just built (clutches/steels, billet intermediate shaft, billet planetary, billet one way reverse clutch. On 13 lbs of boost the car went 9.54 @ 148. On 16lbs it went 9.55@149. I'm wondering if the transmission is just low on fluid, that's what I'm hoping anyway.

Def a good start! Plenty of meat on the bone to ramp in the boost controller more aggressively. What tire?

ET Street R. I'm confident it can leave harder, I think it may go a 9.5x on the wastegate springs.

I was just looking at the logs. On my 8lb pass (9.73) it shifted into 2nd at 7454rpm, into 3rd at 7216rpm, and into 4th at 7309rpm.

When I turned up the boost it feels like the transmission is slipping or something. On the 9.55@149 pass, it shifted into 2nd at 8561rpm, into 3rd at 8334rpm, and into 4th at 8768 rpm with a flare. I really don't want to spin this stock engine that high.

Would being low on transmission fluid or the transmission being hot cause the shifts to be at a much higher rpm?

Low fluid can cause that. But what you are seeing is very common with 6r80s. Shifting varies with trans temp. Who tunes the car? Has it been track tuned at higher boost levels?

Lund is tuning it. I got a few revisions yesterday while at the track.

Should pick up next time out!

My car would shift higher and get slower as the trans got hotter, after each pass....

Appreciate the insight. Hopefully I can get this thing back out before it gets too cold here.

The 'flaring' is likely a Lund issue. I have the Whipple Gen 5 stage 2 and Lund did 2 tunes for it - 91 Octane/10psi and 108 Octane/15psi. The 1-2 flared really bad, falling on its face during the shift because it was spiking to ~8,300rpms, on both tunes. The data logs make it pretty easy to see what's going on.

Lund ensured me I had a bad transmission despite the fact the car only had about 26k miles on it, so I spent the money for a new PBH trans rated to 1,000HP and it did EXACTLY the same thing. Lund tried to tell me that trans was bad as well...

After multiple emails/complaints, and 10+ revisions of the tune, it 'almost' works properly, but they insist I am forcing them to produce a 'hack tune'. Now it shifts too early, so I'm hoping rev 12 gets it closer to what it's supposed to be. Pretty disappointing to say the least.

Mine shifted fine on the first pass on 8lbs of boost when it went 9.73. As I turned up the boost is where I started having issues. I'm hoping it's low on fluid. I'll find out tonight when I check it.
