Hello all! I was just curious to know if anyone has experienced burning oil? I have a 19 GT and it is not leaking oil, it is burning it fast. I am not revving the RPMs constantly, I promise! I got my oil changed last week and it was already down to the low level. I took it into Ford and they told me that where it was, was still considered "normal" and proceeded to tell me at this point it wouldn't be covered under my warranty. Basically what he ended up telling me was to wait until the issue got severe so that it would be covered. I always get full synthetic and use the Motorcraft. I was just curious if anyone else experienced this issue? They seemed to link it was something with the piston rings? Anything would be helpful. THANK YOU!

Was the level confirmed after the oil was changed?

What weight oil did they list on the receipt?

This problem just started with this oil change?

Are you clearly burning, smoking in the exhaust?

Any chance they did not top the car up completely?

How many miles on car?

How many miles driven in the one week?

Any mods?

Did you buy the car used/new?

Thanks.

Was the level confirmed after the oil was changed? Yea they "marked it"

What weight oil did they list on the receipt? it doesn't say?

This problem just started with this oil change? the problem started when the check engine light came on and the codes were engine misfire, misfire on valve 2 and 8. I checked the oil and there was NOTHING so I wound up adding 4 quarts and then another quart a few days later. then the oil change was shortly after that.

Are you clearly burning, smoking in the exhaust? there is no smoking in the exhaust, but the oil is going somewhere and not dripping out

Any chance they did not top the car up completely? it was full when i checked it afterwards.

How many miles on car? 52k

Any mods? just Borla exhaust

Did you buy the car used/new? I bought it used, only had 750 miles on it.

Thanks. thank you!

When the car is cool, can you check the coolant?

Codes, no leaks, no smoke, rapid loss of oil, unfortunately, IMO, hints at a physical failure in the engine.

Is the car overheating?

If you check the oil, while low, does it look like water/coolant is mixed with it?

Start checking these things on your own and document values and timeframes.

Is the car overheating? No.

If you check the oil, while low, does it look like water/coolant is mixed with it? it doesn't look watery, per se.

There’s clearly something going on. Ford tech told you it was normal with the CEL and the misfire codes?

You've got a lot of good information and insight. Yes, document everything well, then, return to the dealer to discuss further. I have to give them the benefit of the doubt, that they didn't understand something, but yea, it's not normal.

If at all possible, don't drive it further. Maybe discuss with dealer before driving back? Tow back? Since we don't know what's happened, there's a chance things can be saved and repaired with less parts, labor and time.

And if you can, come back when you have time and let us know what happened.

sorry to confuse you! so they attributed the misfire codes to a faulty front active grill shutter not operating properly which they suggested replacing.

that's why I am trying to be proactive because it seems like it will only get worse! thank you so much for your insight!

Sounds like it has valve seal issues if there no visible fluid on the ground or along sides the block from valve covers (ie: no leaks).

Take it to Ford, they'll have you do an oil monitoring and go from there.

5/60 is the Powertrain warranty, if your 3/36 is done or no extended warranty.

They did/are doing an oil monitoring and are considering it normal at this point and wont fix it until something drastic occurs. I have an extended warranty.

Try changing out the PCV valve with the updated part. If it sticks open you'll burn a lot of oil while running without much smoke. Usually valve seals will let oil pool in the chambers and you'll get blue smoke on cold and hot starts after its sat for a while. Could also be scored cylinder walls, but if it made it to 52K I'd be surprised if that were the case. Pulling the plugs would answer more questions but sounds like the dealer is lazy and doesn't want to bother with it...
