I thought I’d share another reason why I also won’t get one is that you can get state reffed for it in California.

So you modified a certified emissions control device and failed a emissions inspection.

Yea makes sense to me.

Ford engineer said don't need it. I don't track. Soooooooo. I need it in the gas tank so I can drive around and have fun changing the exhaust sounds. LOL
Changing the exhaust sounds is something I do constantly. It's like my other shifter.

😬sounds like a terrible place to live.
And, the worst part is that what happens in Commiefornia will happen in all of the other states.

Wake up and don't think for a moment that it can't happen in your home state.

Always funny to hear people talking about how bad Cali is. When just about every other modern country in the world is right there with Cali in terms of regulations.

Here in south cops don’t care about that stuff. Longs as taxes are paid and tags are good. Do whatever you want. So again. Cali sounds like a horrible place to live. 😂🤣

Only if we can keep Californian refugees from relocating/polluting the other states. They leave California and the Northeast because it sucks, and they relocate to Florida and Texas and bring their shitty voting habits with them.

FL has the benefit and luxury of generating a bunch of revenue from tourists and out of staters which at the very least, doesn't add to the incessant need for the state to generate bullshit codes and laws for citations and fines and revenue. Behind virtually every "green" proposal is simply a scheme to fleece money off the citizens through licensing, registration, citations, etc.

When I lived in NC I had to deal with vehicle property taxes (what bullshit) and there it was up to the county if they wanted to do environmental and smog testing.

California is big enough (population wise) that they develop their own testing and standards for all sorts of stuff, from building codes (if you want to put furniture in a building for instance, it has to pass California specific testing vs the national NFPA requirements for material class ratings), but again, I submit that it's more about control and revenue than any (we're just better and have higher standards) bullshit.

All this is for naught, because at the Federal level if we don't do something, the vast majority of vehicles in a generation will be electric/electronic that can be controlled and regulated by states/feds. Wouldn't shock me if car culture dies when others can see and control what you've done to your vehicle just by way of firmware/diagnostics and they LITERALLY have the ability to shut your vehicle down remotely (if you haven't paid your insurance or you haven't renewed your registration or you have outstanding citations, etc). They'll also be able to do things like monitor how many times you've sped (or harshly braked) etc, like we're seeing now with the insurance monitoring crap.

We're at the beginning of the end of car enthusiast culture. This all assumes that it doesn't evolve even further with driverless technology. I could see a future where you don't even own a car, you just pay a membership into a car service that picks you up and drives you wherever you need to go like an AI Uber.

This is a typical leftist fallacy. "Every other government does x, y, z" to which the founders of the Constitution would reply "that's the entire point."

Tick tick tick. How long before this thread get's locked What does politics have to do with an oil catch can?

The mods seem to be a bit slanted on the subject too.
