Ask for a mode 9 print out from an ids . That will show the ignition count . The count always reset to zero when pcm is flashed . If any warranty repair were done that had a pcm flash it starts at zero . They can check history and see if any dealer did a warranty flash .
What I find unusual is the fact that my dealer finally calls me for the first time after they actually started the inspection asking me to sign off on potential labor costs because ford wants to find evidence inside the engine of tuning...the dealership parts manager who called me didn't even attempt to inform me what was found or broken, just immediately asked for oil change records and to agree to this procedure.

I agree that it sounds like a catastrophic event. Since you've already said you haven't modified the engine or tune in any way let them go ahead and do whatever they want. It's up to them to prove you've caused the problem if they want to deny your claim. From what you've said they have no grounds to do that.
I'm going to agree to this request, but first I'm going to request a full copy of the diagnostic report from the ecu, and I need them to explain what has actually gone wrong with my engine.

Like the other guys sed, the dealer is only following what Ford is telling them to do.

Remember back when the Gen1 'Yote was new and people were popping those things from poor understanding of the stock Ford calibration ..

Ford put out a TSB to the dealers on what to check for.

I still have it after all these years ....

That’s a little TSB…. LOL.

Check out GSB G0000184… that’s the one where it documents for Tech and Service Centers what to look for if an engine has been modified or not maintained… hit the below thread, the PDF is attached in it.

The Ford Service Center has to do what Ford or Ford Engineering is telling them to do and look for when it comes to a blown or damaged engine. They SHOULD pull the PCM extract, Tune or no tune, or a Tune that has been flashed back to stock - they’ll instantly know from the key cycles… So if they’re not believing you that it’s never been tuned, tell them to pull the PCM extract and view the key cycles…

Catastrophic engine failure and un-modified engine, makin me sweat a little here even with the warranty headache. If anything, try a different dealer. All of them seem to have varying levels of understanding/generosity. Sounds like this dealer is a pain

While none will be able to stray from what Ford has already weighed in on regarding this failure, I would pursue taking it to another dealer I thought was better.

I had a Pontiac dealer tell me I had a cracked block in a year old Firebird Formula. They said GM approved replacing the engine but I was suspicious because what got them started was drops of water in the pan after they removed it. Thing was, it was only there for a taillight issue. They had no explanation why the pan was off. Had it towed to another dealer who confirmed the block was fine. Years later that dealer got caught doing unnecessary "surgery" and billing owners or GM.

I also have a 2020 Mustang GT. Just last month I installed with FP power pack just for wannty issues. Expensive but my warranty is intact.

Also, Ford issued a " service notice" ( forgot the terminology) of some type like last year for 2020 Mustang GTs that were made in a certain date range. There's a thread on this forum regarding this notice.

Are they providing you any type of loaner vehicle while they sort this out? Very curious re your outcome. Good luck

I'll definitely look for this service bulletin regarding 2020 GT's.
And as of right now, Ford has had my car one month and NO LOANER!

It was a TSB for 5.0 made 9/1/20-12/1/20 and engine related. Lots of comments re build dates, potential recalls etc.but ultimately nothing...yet.

No loaner, that's crazy.

Pretty sure mine falls within those dates, but we'll see if anything comes up...and yeah, not at all happy with my dealers customer service.
When and if the warranty is approved, I will be in touch with Ford Corporate to address this issue of no loaner.
Apparently when you buy a brand new 50k Ford you need to have your own back up vehicle.

Greeting fellow Okie...

First... I have yet to find a dealership service department in this state that is actually usable. Honda, Dodge, Ford, all fairly terrible. IDK what it is about this state but between missed calls and slipped estimates I have never seen it as bad as I have here.

Second... https://www.oag.ok.gov/consumer-protection-unit Say what you will about the 'gubment' in OK, I have had really good luck with them sending letters to businesses to "adjust" their customer service. From dealing with the above on a dodgy AC repair to the Insurance Comission getting a fly-by-night insurance company to cover their hit-and-run customer's damages. Not necessarily asking them to turn the screws on people, just emailing them and asking a few questions does wonders. Again, they have to prove that you did something to void the warranty, not the other way around.

Last... I am not sure who recommended it, but opening a ticket with Ford is not necessarily a bad idea. A phone call or two from the company can do wonders to get things moving in the right direction and they have been nothing but golden to me so far.

Thanks for the information regarding Oklahoma consumer protection, this has already been a most frustrating experience.

Any update OP?
As of last Friday I have requested a few bits of information...like what has actually gone wrong/broken with the engine, some information regarding what was found in my ecu log files, and a copy of this request to pull the heads,
So I may read through it before signing...and then I got a reply from the parts manager stating he would get me everything I requested but may take some time due to their Service Manager having just quit!
