I wonder if that's why some people get the "typewriter" engine noise after their first oil change. Maybe the dealership buffoons underfill them lol
So I was reading a lot of YouTube comments, apparently that is a very common theory on it. Lots of people had the 8.5 qts thing happen at dealerships. There has to be something in their computers or an old book or something they are all referencing.

I have always done my own oil changes, but when I bought the car I had Ford points, I figured why pay to do it myself when this one is free. My mistake.

I waited for the oil change. Honestly I have never owned such a new car with a warranty and everything. I have had old junk most of my life where I fixed and did everything, motor swaps, suspension replacement, body work, etc. 78 Camaro, 93 Escort wagon, 86 Trans Am, 2002 Camaro, etc.
I made the mistake of using my Ford points to do an alignment. I will literally never bring my car to a Ford dealership again. They did nothing but take the car further out of alignment.

Track pack doesnā€™t change the engine, the 5.0 takes 10qts. Figure out what oil they put in, add 1.5qts and find a new place for oil changes. Or do it yourself and never wonder again.
Not to mention "track pack" literally isn't even a thing on the GT.

I assumed he meant PP1 or 2, but you are correct. šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø šŸ˜‚

Hey guys,
I just went for the first oil change since I bought my used 2019 GT PP1 in September. Everywhere I look, owners manual, this forum, YouTube, Ford's website, it says the 5.0 takes 10qts. The dealer put in 8.5qts. Only reason I knew they put in less was I looked at the bill when I got home and saw I was charged for only 9qts. The person on the phone told me they were looking at the info on the computer and because my car doesnt have the track pack, it only takes 8.5qts. I can't find anything to validate that. That dipstick is a pain in the neck to accurately read so I am second guessing myself. How much should my car actually take? Also I saw on Ford's website that intervals between oil changes says 10,000 miles, the dealer says 5,000, which interval would you do?
Takes 10 all day, I don't understand what is difficult to read on the dipstick. I change oil at 5k.

Well it is called that in the manual, for example when referring to coolant capacity.
Weird, I see the same, but only that one reference when talking about coolant. Must be a holdover since the Performance Package took its place, track pack was a late S197 thing.

Not on this GT, in any case. They had the Track Pack on the S197 for a couple years, and parts suppliers and dealers seem to keep using the nomenclature for S550, regardless of the change.

Post #13. Seems like Ford hasnā€™t gotten the message either. :giggle:

Geezā€¦. Here go to this thread, print the PDFs; go back to your Service Writer and tell him he needs to go back to Ford School:

I would go back there and show them the manual specification for capacity. if that dealer doesn't make it right, I would tell them I would never ever go back to their dealership for any future repair.

I haven't read anywhere on the thread that you actually checked the dip stick. If so, was it low or was it OK? Maybe the Service Tech. put the correct amount in and the Service Dept. computer program auto-filled the wrong amount of oil on the invoice?
