Feels good to be back in a Mustang. I originally sold my 2016 for a Toyota Tundra. Which I traded for a 2018 M3. Got rid of the BMW and got a new Tacoma, flipped all those cars made money and got myself a 2021 Mustang GT PP1 401a. The msrp is not what I paid. I got a hefty discount. I've been through a disgusting amount of vehicles. It's not worth it. I should've kept my 2016 and saved myself the headache.

Today I installed Cardinal red Katzkin seat covers in my car. I've always wanted red interior but for one reason or another it never worked out.
The install itself was actually pretty easy. There are no hog rings on the 2020, just velcro and some snaps.
Passenger side came out perfect, rear upper seats perfect. Drivers seat and lower rears have some wrinkles. But not too bad. Definitely better than having someone install it. I saved at least $900 doing it myself.
I also installed a heated seat in the drivers side. My wife never rides in the car so no point wasting time on putting heat on the passenger side.

The kit also came with the door panel inserts. I would love to get those on but it looks like a pain.
I'll see about tackling that another time.

I have a few questions for you, if you don’t mind. Where did you get them from? Did you custom order them or was it a preset design? How long did it take to install and what is your experience level on seat leather replacement. I’m especially interested in learning more on the heated seat option, would like to know more about that - any interesting details?

I got them off Ebay. Heres the link

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1851055704...a=1&pg=2060778&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507

The seller is great, very responsive to messages. He asked if I would like to make any changes, you can get them any way Katzkin offers. I wanted exactly like the auction pic so I didn't make any changes. If you want something different, message him and you guys can come up with what you like.
He said it would take 3-4 weeks as they're made to order. I got them in a little over 2 weeks. Maybe because I wanted a somewhat common set

It look me about 6 hours to do them. I've never done any kind of interior work. I am handy with a wrench, but in no way a professional. You being a Master tech, you can do this.
They're made for the car and fit perfectly. Lots of effort to get the clips to clip in, getting the velcro to seat properly takes some effort too, but its not hard. You'll just have sore hands for a few days. There are great YouTube videos and threads here you can use to guide you a long. Those were invaluable.
This thread was especially helpful. He goes over some of the changes Ford made in 2020

Like he mentions Ford stopped using hog rings around 2020 (mine didnt have them). So your 2019 might have hog rings. If so the install will be a little more difficult. But still doable IMO. You'll want hog ring pliers and some hog rings.

I'd probably space it out over a few days if I were to do it again. I got tired by the time I got to the last seat. I probably would have gotten a better result if I had. Just a few wrinkles though so no biggie. I started with the back seats, loved the results and kind of got my feet wet. The rears are easy. Then I did the passenger seat with the intention of stopping after that, but it came out so good I kept going.

I installed the heated seat pads but I have not wired it in yet. I bought this kit from amazon
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B002U6IL9O?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
Its a thin pad that has a sticky side that sticks to the seat foam. The wires run under the foam and out the seat. Then there is a power and ground. I plan to use a fuse tap (it comes with one but not one that works on our fuse type).
🤞 that they work.

Thanks for the info. I have done plenty of seats in my time, but only BMW. They have used hog rings for as long as I have been doing them. They are not my favorite, that is for sure, and yes your hands will be sore and tired. Lots of wires running through the hinges and parts riveted together, requiring drilling. Usually a warranty repair, so never replacing all seats at once. That would be a nightmare! I think my work experience has me a little apprehensive, but it sounds like these are much less complicated than what I’m used to. I have seen those on eBay as well and have some in mind. I have considered picking up some seats from a wrecked premium model to get the heated / cooled parts out of, but that’s much more expense. Thanks again, it’s great help.
