You're right, most great vehicles weren't appreciated in their time. But I figured with today's internet and YouTube culture that wouldn't be the case.

Just look at Gen 5 vipers. Dodge couldn’t give them away when they were being built and now people are bending over backwards to pay over MSRP on used ones.

I think more and more people are realizing we are at the end of an era and the time to scoop these cars up is now or never.

Well shoot you can't blame that all on just the reader. So much information available on almost any topic these days seems to be mostly emotional/speculative BS infused with bits of unrelated fact to give the appearance of legitimacy. Maybe it's a bit chicken/egg...

It's true, there's definitely a perceived wall coming where a lot of these cars won't be made anymore at best, and will be taxed to the moon to operate at worst. Whether or not we hit that wall is irrelevant at this point I suppose.

It's a shame, because I wanted a Viper GTS. It was something that I could conceivably save for, but now even if I could buy one, it just wouldn't make any sense.

I am here because of it. I sold my Gen V TA Viper to get an ACR, but you see where those are selling now. Hell, my TA would sell for $150k in this market (I sold 1 year ago for $120k and paid nowhere close to that new). Since I couldn’t buy an ACR due to a $250k+ price point, I went with the R. It’s no Viper (especially dynamically), but it is a hell of a lot of fun and doesn’t have the awful Viper ergonomics. Still want an ACR, but I’m very happy with the R as it is also a very special car.

Really need to shop internationally because what's hot in one market is out of flavor in another and rules are changing.

EU is going crazy at the moment to divest fossil fuels could be a wave of great cars cheap soon.

LatAM old money changing hands younger folks don't care for muscle or old ICE at all....divesting estates.

After the mustang I will get a self drive EV

$110,500. Lot less than the craziness that goes on over on BAT. 1100 miles I guess is high mileage. What is that 4 maybe 5 times at a gas station depending on how much fun the owner has with the car?

So 115k final. We all knew it wouldn't compete with BaT, but man this is pretty shocking. At this point I don't understand why people are selling there cars anywhere other than BaT, or privately. You're just losing money automatically.

It also said it had a reserve? I guess it was met? Why would you set such a low reserve when a HEP R with the same mileage on CaB sold months ago for 136k, and others of BaT for over 155k.

I can’t think that BaT is just that much better exposure, but it may be. I never heard of CaB till this auction. My builder has a BaT sticker on his Expedition, so BaT is more noticed.
