The higher the octane rating, the slower and colder the fuel burns. If you run too much octane in your engine it won’t run very well because the burn is way too slow. What issues would these be?
You let them pump your gas? I dont, i got my card ready and am pumping by the time they acknowledge me.lol totally got judged by this older guy who was a gas attendant at wawa today. unfortunately in nj we can’t pump our own gas (absolutely stupid) and i said fill her regular please, and he was like, what, regular? don’t you mean like super? i was like no man, regular, it’s already 3.35 a gallonso yeah guy totally judged me bc he asked me like two times if i said fill it regular. lol. feel like they all judge me!
have you tested it? ive been curious what it is around chicagoland. i almost always go to speedways or thorntons, mostly because theyre often the only ones who carry E85 around me or where im generally commuting to/from. good to know if it's generally that high of ethanol content. That's about the same as we get in the Midwest from Speedway stations. It is lower when the car hibernates for winter, but I don't buy that. I run one tank of 93 for winter starts and the occasional nice day drive.
Yes I test every tank. Last one was at 85%, and I've seen as high as 90%. Speedway consistently has good E85 in the Chicago area spring to fall.have you tested it? ive been curious what it is around chicagoland. i almost always go to speedways or thorntons, mostly because theyre often the only ones who carry E85 around me or where im generally commuting to/from. good to know if it's generally that high of ethanol content.
Sorry that is an old wives tale. Too much octane won't do anything except make your wallet lighter from the cost of the fuel. The higher the octane rating, the slower and colder the fuel burns. If you run too much octane in your engine it won’t run very well because the burn is way too slow.

It's a New Jersey thing. Gas attendents pump the gas for you. I believe there's one more state in the country that does not allow Self-Service. All I know is that when I moved from Jersey to California back in 93, two things stood out. A "Slice and a Coke" gave me so many strange looks, and learning to Fill the Tank could be demoralizing. You let them pump your gas? Also, why skimp? Granted I gotta Bronco, but even then, shes thirsty and I want that extra 30hp, worth the price imo
Definitely a Jersey thing, but only time they bitched at me was the literally retarded guy they had at Quick Chek in Eatontown, just nodded and smiled as he went off, like sure thing buddy. Otherwise no matter where I go, they’re like “you got it?” And walk away, or ask about herIt's a New Jersey thing. Gas attendents pump the gas for you. Higher octane creating a lower burn is not an old wives tale, it’s literally the definition of octane rating. The higher the octane the higher pressure the spontaneous combustion of the fuel occurs. If you don’t believe fuel that’s too high of an octane can negatively effect your car then put the highest octane fuel you can get your hands on from VP and run it in your car. It’s like retarding your ignition.Sorry that is an old wives tale. Too much octane won't do anything except make your wallet lighter from the cost of the fuel.
Yea, I recall driving from Stockton to Los Angeles with my Sister-in-Law, and needing to fill up the tank. For years, I've watched these attendents fill up my mother's tank, so I had the "Rhythm" down, but when it came to me performing the same task, I was a dog in the middle of the highway.demoralizing huh? Been ages since I had a slice and coke btw.
My old 360 powered cordoba ran 15.5 1/4 miles. I had some left over C-16 and filled her up.
