Hi everyone,
I will be looking to buy one next year, and as much as I like the GT, I am starting to think modified Eco Boost.
To qualify:
I have wanted a mustang since dad's 66 convertable was totalled in around 72.
Love the concept of a v8, but am now over 50, and some sense is coming into play :D

My commute is up a mountain range, and then 50k back country roads. Then the reverse return home.

Fuel price up in FNQ is much higher than in metro areas.

Possibility of boosting turbo power to 350+ hp with not much effort.

Currently drive a JCW MINI, which is like a go cart on steroids. So used to some handling ability.

Am planning on driving a BMW 235i and seeing what it is like. Some comparisons have been made, and the Mustang will be at least $30k less.

Not sure if i want to wait until local dealer has both models in stock to try though. The wait is killing me.

Fords silence on pricing, and specs is also annoying.

Any comparisons or thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Ken

I chose the GT, for a few reasons.

1) It's a stellar V8, TONS of power, and that sound that you just cant get from a turbo 4.

2) I'm intrigued by the EcoBoost, the fuel economy is nice. The tuner market is going to go crazy with it, but say goodbye to any factory warranty. On a 35-40K car, I'd like to keep my warranty intact for at least a while.

I hear you there, I would love the V8, and the sound is amazing.
Here the price will be closer to $70k for the GT, and $50k for the eco boost. Fuel is about $1.68 per Litre!! (3.78l per gallon or $6.35 a US gallon)
Cheers,

Ken

So you're two days driving distance north of one of my favorite roads in the world (Great Ocean Road). Just wanted to say that.

Depending on how much higher you are relative to sea level, you might want to strongly consider an FI car. I'd look at the EB and both the 228i and M235i.

I used to have a beach house in Lorne, on the Great Ocean Road. Was great to drive, or ride one of my bikes (BMW) down there.
Now live just north of Cairns, and there is a comparable road here. The Cook Hwy up to Port Douglas, from Palm Cove.
Even Better is the Gillies Range, or Kuranda Range Road up to the Tablelands.

FYI BMW 228i here $70k + 235i $90k+

Cheers,
Ken

Was seriously considering the GT. But after price speculation and since driving in peak most of the time, thinking an ecoboost performance pack is more suitable. Guess we will need to see the price early next year.

I believe to have stumbled across a likely yet unconfirmed price for us here in Aus. I had a look at some of the main american cities prices for the focus and fiesta and compared it with Brisbanes prices for them. Both prices had a difference of around $6000 so I am thinking that the same thing could happen with the 2015 mustang. With a stock price of $32100 for the GT in america, we in australia will probably end up with a price of around about $38600, with around $31600 for the Ecoboost. After all, they want to beat all the other manufacturers like Audi and BMW. But if it had to be a choice bwtween the GT and Ecoboost, I would choose the GT because it has the excitement that the ecoboost doesn't, and it is something you can drive everyday, just without the fuel efficency of the Ecoboost.

Although I wish you are correct. I believe the price is not even near. I suspect ecoboost would start near 45k and gt 55k

I did say unconfirmed, but I do believe that the stang will be around those prices as they would want to beat the competitors.

The difference is that the vehicles we get in those models don't come from the US, so while they may look the same there are many, many differences.

Ford Australia released a small advertisement to dealers as part of the guess who promotion which mentioned pricing of 50-70k, so I would highly doubt Ford would release such low pricing over here, especially after implying the above price range.

Further to your examples - US Focus ST: 24k, Aus ST (Euro sourced): 38k.

It all comes down to how much people are willing to pay. Personally I'm ready to pay $50k for a fully loaded ecoboost + pp

Yes correct but is this a global car and coming from the U.S. and made in the U.S. So would think it will be the same in Europe Japan England and Australia bar a few cosmetic changes to conform to roadworthy
So I would have to believe Rhys and really hope he's close to the money
If ford Australia thinks us mug punters are going to spend upwards of 70k drive away they could be in for a rude shock and the European car makers are going to have field day next year with the new models coming out
Lexus new coupe is in that bracket and would have a better more refined finish inside and out yes it's a Toyota

Yes, that was the point I was trying to prove with pricing because if it is over $50k, then no one would really buy the car and would go for a different car or even manufacturer.
