Local dealer got another Mach 1

Yes I had it done locally. Ordered through granger and it shipped here. Sat in the garage for a month waiting for my appointment which was torture. I had front bumper, hood, fenders, rear deck panel, large area in front of the rear tires, and the painted section below the side stripes done in PPF. With paint prep and ceramic over the whole car including wheels and brake calipers it was about $4200 before tax. This was done by the best guy in the Pacific Northwest. And lucky for me his prices are better than the other shops I had looked into. Well worth it to me because the car cleans up very nicely and I have a little less stress driving it worrying about rocks. Plus I plan to keep this car a long time so I wanted to preserve the paint.

The film work I had done on my car ran $4,600 CAD which is about $ 3,400 USD... The shop clay bar'd the whole car as part of the paint prep, the filmed the entire car with 3M Pro (10 Year Warranty) and then Ceramic coated the entire car (3 Year Warranty)... They paid special attention to the hood graphics which really impressed me... They explained that rather than piecing together gloss and stealth film and having multiple points of potential failure, they covered the entire hood with gloss and then cut a piece of stealth to cover over the Matte portion of the stripe to return it to a 'matte look'... The job was great, all edges tucked and rolled... Very happy...

Oh man. I can't imagine having it sit around for a month!

I am debating the necessity of ceramic coating on top of the PPF. I am already decided on PPF- I was cleaning my MX-5 yesterday and was just floored by all of the damage to the front fascia from rock chips despite not tailgating / taking meticulous care of my car.....I'm sure a lot of that has to do with all of the interstate driving I do now and all of the pickups out here without mudguards/etc. Anyway better to buy the PPF rather than be pissed every time one of those dudes cuts in front of me. But once you have the PPF on areas you expect potential damage, is ceramic coating that much of an added benefit aside from easier cleaning?

I think it’s just for easier cleaning. the areas that are PPF and ceramic I can practically hose off and dry with the leaf blower. It’s pretty amazing stuff.
Like you I try very hard to avoid crap on the roads and for some cars it’s just not worth the cost in my opinion to do PPF. But for something you plan to keep a long time I would absolutely do it. In retrospect I should have just wrapped the entire car but at some point you have to decide the cost/benefit ratio for yourself.

Sorry I wasn’t clear on that part. They did ceramic over all of the area that have PPF on my car. I’m not sure what the film is like without ceramic. They used xpel.

My installers used 3M Pro Film and 3M Ceramic...

I really want to get PPF on the rear decklid due to that and seeing how it was on my previous one but I have a feeling that would involve breaking the Mach 1 emblem since they are glued/melted on. I guess I'd have to get a new one and just 3M tape it or tape the old one?

Excuse the dust. Car has been at the dealer since last week and they had strict instructions to keep it inside and not let their wash guys anywhere near it.

That sounds like the best idea so far. I'll be going this way, don't want to lose the matte look

I agree, I have been thinking about it since @Mach1NA posted his resolution here. Now it seems to be confirmed as a viable approach by another detailer.

I DEFINITELY wouldn't buy a wrecked/damaged car when new ones are

Not sure if it fell off the truck on the way here or what. Front bumper is scratched. Tail light is broken. And they just put it out on the lot like it’s no big deal
The used gt350 was in pretty rough shape as well. They are asking over its original ‘19 msrp. Not sure on the Mach 1 but I think they have been consistently $10k over msrp

I would love to add a gt500 to my garage! The car next to that Mach 1 is a 350 though. Used…….and I mean USED! It had very rough paint like it’s never seen wax. Scratches and scuff marks. The area in front of the rear tires was sandblasted to hell. It had mismatched tires front to rear and the rears were ready to be replaced. Plus there was in my opinion a lot of soot in the exhaust tips. Either they’ve never been washed or something else is going on that explains trading it in I’m afraid………

The difference between the Mach and 500 is in real dollars like >$30k, despite what the MSRPs would have you believe.

Personally I think the GT500 is a beautiful car, but I can't justify the extra cost, and I believe I would miss my manual gearbox too much. I would hop into a 2019/2020 GT350 first. Now if you were a big fan of the A10 Mach then it would start to make more sense.
