Do you know anyone local that will take you for a ride in their car? Go to the next C&C or car show. Better gas, maybe they even let you drive! GT's make max torque at over 4K, where the S5 makes max it at what 1600- 1800 (till 4K maybe 5K?) RPM. That's may be why the GT feels slow. Everyone talks about HP, but it's TORQUE that gets the car moving.

I got to ride in a Mach 1 at a Ford Experience thing set up at Barrett Jackson last weekend. It took away any doubts. I imagine those drivers could make even a Prius dance, but those things went amazing. I’d buy one today if i could find a dealer that could order one and wasn’t adding markups.

The S5 is also like $20k+ more than the GT?

If you're comparing the S5 to a GT as a proxy for a M1, that's kinda of silly, don't you think? Otherwise why would people be dropping the extra $20k for the M1 over the base GT?

I'll leave this here for you

Long story short though, if you want the S5, get the S5. It's your life, drive what you enjoy
Is that their inhouse tuner or from Tuning By James(Makes the Steeda Bullitt tune)? I'm assuming this is an 10spd, but looks a little low. Steedas baseline for a Bullitt was 435/382 and their tune brought it to 457/400.

For the price of S5 Technik, you may get a GT with a supercharger and performance oriented suspension mods at the very least. Don't think Audi would stand a chance in terms of performance :giggle: . But as others mentioned, it would be more refined.

Bottom line is you can either save some money or get more out of mustang for same cost as far as sports car.

Yeah I don't trust that. They were constantly trying to slip in markups when I was looking at a GT350 and Bullitt even though they were listing the cars without one.

It is still a VW. and comes with the wiring problems and all.
Only you know what one is best for you.
But plan on it being at the dealership service dept. alot
Weird. Apparently I won the lottery twice, since the two VWs that I've owned were more trouble-free than any domestic I've owned in the last decade. Built better too, fit and finish and paint especially.

This was a stock M1 v a stock GT. No tune. I can't remember the thread but it's posted somewhere on the M1 subforum.

Ah ok, thought it was tune vs no tune.

I'd love to see GT, GT+ Power Package, Bullitt and M1 over laid at some point.

Friend 1: MK6 GTI doors sagging and had to go to get adjusted twice, coil packs blowing, and a DSG failure
Friend 2: MK7 GTI DSG took a shit, twice
Brother: MK6 GTI blew coil packs till the engine just went.
Friend 3: Audi TT DSG and engine went

All swore off VW products after their experiences with those cars.

I have 1 friend that's an VW owner and NOT had issues, and it's with an Audio A4 S-Line.

Audi/VW has the highest failure rate of any maker I know of among people I know, followed by BMW. Which is not a great sign as MOST of my friends are Honda/Ford/GM drivers. The fact that the average VW owner I personally know have had more issues with 1 VW than I have had with EVERY car I've ever owned combined (And I drive like an asshole and beat the shit out of things) to me screams "stay away".

I don't think there would be too much of a difference between the GT and GT performance package 1, nor between the M1 and Bullitt, at least in stock form.

Yea....VW makes nice cars, but anecdotally, the people who have had issues far outweigh those without.

My mom drives a Q5, which she just absolutely adores. It's her first German car and personally I think she is thrilled with the 'premium' status/badging. She tells me how amazing customer service is and how pampered she is anytime she has to bring it in to the shop for unscheduled maintenance. My reply is, my wife (her daughter in law) drives a Outback that is one year older than the Q5, and we've never had to bring it into the shop......
