I asked my dealer to do tint on the car when they received it, since I am in Florida. Well anyways, they quoted me $299 to tint all the windows. I feel like this is expensive but I have no clue what it costs.

Just wondering what every one elses experiences are with this?

For a top quality tint and flawless installation that sounds right to me.

That is very expensive.

I usually search for a good quality pre-cut tint and install it myself (cutting it to fit is the hardest part):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fits-Ford-Cars-Full-Car-Precut-Window-Tint-Film-Kit-3M-Window-Film-Pre-cut-/261633847554?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2015|Model%3AMustang&hash=item3cea97b102&vxp=mtr

Even if you don't want to do it yourself, it gives you an idea of what they are charging to install it.

In the past, I have never paid more than $125-$150 to have tint professionally installed.

This is a good question but it is in the wrong forum. Needs to be moved to cosmetic section.

I would call around to tint shops to get prices, then. $300 sounds high to me, but at least you'll find out if others give you the same price.

Just paid $250 for 20% Ceramic all around, and a small strip on the top of the windshield

That is highway robbery. I'm in Florida and have always gotten my cars tinted in florida. The place I've gone to for my last 4 cars did limo all around plus front strip and used llamar film and it cost me 150. This time think they quoted me $160. I've never had an issue. Shop around you'll find a good place plus dealer will only do legal and double charge us for that privilege

$160 sounds exactly right.

I usually do whatever the legal limit is for the back all the way around. Is it 20%? 15%?

Having the front tinted lighter (35%) than the back windows looks ridiculous.

And it's easy to find a place that will do it darker-than-legal.

Legal is 28% which is almost like no tint. Plenty of places will go as dark as you want. Typically its a cash deal and they normally wanna make sure you are a cop lol. If you call places they prob won't talk about anything real dark but you can still get some prices. Also don't go to one of those 89 buck tint places. You'll wind up with bubbles and junk

consider what retail is, then consider the convenience of not having to take it and drop it and go and get it. You're paying someone else to do the leg work you don't want to do. Of course they should be able to mark it up.

Tiny job can be done in 1.5 hours. Make an appointment save yourself 140 bucks you could put towards another part
